View Full Version : Truma Water Heater - Zippy... Anyone?
We are currently on holiday in our caravan, and all is well except that the water heater is constantly spluttering and spitting when we turn on the hot tap.
It's a Bailey caravan, and I'm fairly sure that it is a Truma water heater.
It's currently running off the electric supply and mains water hook-up (serviced pitch type).
Anyone know what might be causing this?
Thanks
Alan
Sounds like air in the system. Have you tried bleeding the system again?

Run tap for a while, get wll the air out.
Thanks Guys, I will try running the tap for a while.
I've tried it a couple of times, but maybe not for long enough.
Thanks
Alan

Sounds to me as if the pump has an air leak, probably at the connection into the 'van. Try smearing the inlet seals with cooking oil or if that doesn’t stop it then something thicker like butter. If successful then it proves the fault.
This is only a temporary measure as new seals ('O' rings ?) will be required.

On arrival at a site, open the hot kitchen tap and allow the heater to vent fully, then I do the same with the bathroom taps, hot and cold.
This always works for us.
Any update?
Thanks again to all that responded.
Tried bleeding it again, but it continues to splutter out water... Sort of like a steam valve ( if that makes sense).
I will try a new seal when I get home, and give it a full test. I don't want to do anything to cause a full failure whilst I am away.
Will update in due course.

Alan

So, with the hot tap open, do you get flowing water or just steam
