Does anyone know what, if any, 17 nch rims will fit a Y60 Troll.
Just got an Ebay bargain x2 37x12.5x17's for £50 just need 2 more tyres and a set of rims....
Tyres can be adictive:eek:

The only 17" rims I can think of Nissan doing were on the last T2's, some navara's/pathfinders but i'm not sure if the offset is enough for the troll or if the rims are wide enough to take such a large tyre but if your ever up my way your more than welcome to try 1 of my 17's on your motor:thumbs

I don't think then Nav's n Path's have the centres big enough to fit the locking hubs through though!
otherwise they're back on ebay for £100 each.
37's would give an extra inch clearance on the 35's and look the absolute Doggies.....

The later Y61s came with 17 inch rims (that's how I know for certain 32" fits without a lift as the tyre width/profile stayed the same).
Would have thought those rims would fit a Y60, maybe try a breakers? :nenau

Spring lift won't give you any more clearance over standard unless you fit massive bump stops too, only a body lift truly gives extra clearance without having to compromise suspension articulation.

Looks like it has at the top. and it's almost a climb in to the cab now.
32" tyres to 37" tyres has given an extra 2.5" between the road and the axel:thumbs
the only issue I have now is clearance to the rear of the front arch on turning every thing else is clear. Untill I hit a bump and then tha rear of the front arches will need taking back a bit:augie

Further progress:thumb2 I have aquired a 3rd matching 37 x12.5 x17.
New and delivered for£110:eek: but still les than half price
so that makes 3 for £160 and an average of £53 each instead of £248.
As for the wings  the grinder it is.
instead of enlarging the opening by running the grinder all the way around the arch I plan to chop a section from the top centre ofthe arch and move it back by about 2" and then infill a small gap and re finnish.
Retining the good arches, arch liners and as i have 2 sets of spats it should look standard:augie:augie

THe tyres just catch on full lock, if you back the wheel off by 5mins it's clear:)
I guess a set of 30mm wheel spacers will sort that out. not had chance to test out the articulation yet.
Just ordered some 4" strips of brushed stainless to makes some arch spats to keep Bobby Law happy.
Need to splash a bit of paint around the inside of the wings an re fit the under arch guards, sort out the rot on the rear arches, finish and paint the front wings.
Trim the rear plastic arch covers and we should be good to go.:thumb2

solarman216
20-08-2014, 21:00
We have a firm here in near by Hastings that given the paint code will make up a spray can or two of the correct paint, the code will be on the identification plate, on T2's it is under the bonnet right hand bulkhead but do not know on Patrols, I can give you their number if you want, Rick
Your paint & trim codes will be on the ID plate which will prob be under the bonnet. If your going to respray the whole wing you'll need to flatten back all of the paint & primer on each wing with 800 wet&dry one so the wing is nice & smooth but also to give the surface a good key for the new paint & this is prob the most important stage if you want a good finish. It's upto you if you wish to use a primer first (some people do so don't) but if there are any low points i'd use a high build primer as it's also a filler, then add your colour & if it becomes a bit rough etc flatten it back lightly with 1200 wet&dry before covering with lacquer & the more coats of lacquer you do the deeper & better shine you'll get
The Patrolman
20-08-2014, 21:44
I can get some made up tomorrow, locally to work in Essex. Truck and id plate are back in Redcar in the North east. hence the question:thumb2
I'm not too worried about a deep shine as I would then have to do the rest of the truck. just red to cover the primer:D

Rustic, It is indeed spray cans in the wind and a sheet of cardboard for masking.

The Matt Black look is growing on me but don't know if I'm brave ( or stupid:nenau ) enough to do the full thing:sly
Some of the lacquer is coming of the Metallic Red so I could just flat it off and go all black:nenau

Don't bail out and go girly, that black looks beefy!!! :sly
Only a few things too consider, I've seen a few crap jobs when using Matt black when the finish is done poorly ect. And bear in mind the vehicle might be a little hotter if you do black.
Looks the bomb though :sly

I have to say, that Matt black does grow on you, I like it, but a valid point about getting hot.
Mind you, my T2 is gloss black, and with temperatures of 39degC last week, I burnt the side of my hand on the paintwork.......ouch! You can barely touch the black leather steering wheel, and temperatures of 50+ were measured in the cab.........I don`t think you will get that in UK where you are though........:thumb2

Just been back on to the insurance company as the want an extra £42 on a £230 policy for a paint colour change as they think it is a modification.
I said I was only painting the wings that were declared as a modification but they were not having any if that either.
I am waiting a call back when they have listened to the original conversation on which the policy was sold to me.
I told them that I had started to paint the wings black and may or may not do all of the car and there was no mention of a policy increase.
It is so important when talking to companies like insurance, or utilities, to make a note of the date, time, person you spoke too, and particular points of discussion. I often just jot it on the utility bill...
I recently raised a customer complaint with BT about a feature I didn't want as I had told them to cancel it... however next quarter I was still being charged... any how, I referred to a conversation that they had recorded, and after 10 days I had a written transcript of that conversation on that day, which proved I had requested the cancellation.
Next was a phone call from them.....
Basically what can we do to put things right...?:augie
Well last month we went over our broadband usage... they waived that...
Oh.... and the month before... ok...
Now we have free caller display, and we are now paying £10 less per month with unlimited broadband now lol...
However... our concession was to sign up for 12 months.
They refused to fill the Mav tank with diesel though lol...
:lol:lol

Sounds like Adrian Flux to me :o
I've had similar issues in the past. I simply asked them to refer to the recording of my agreement to the policy. In that I was promised no admin fees for future "non performance related" modifications. What do you know, they couldn't find it, but agreed that I was right.

Have to say Adrian Flux have never tried to increase my premium despite declaring all my mods as none have been classed as performance related (and I mean all mods) :nenau
Interestingly my tyre size increase to 32" was just noted as "larger tyres" so there was no point in telling them when I went from 32" to 33".

Ah yes but tell them anyway. If some herbert slashes your tyres they may quibble if your 33s are £200 each
It took me months to get AF to confirm in writting the mods I had declared. I wanted to be sure the chappie on the phone had transcribed correctly as there was no mention of the actual mods on the policy , other than "modified suspension" or "larger tyres". I have flippin' expensive offroad type alloys and wanted them written in and confirmed that locking wheel nuts were not reqd etc.
Cover is one thing, getting paid out quite another :sly

On the plus side my two new Pro Comp 37" s should be waiting at home for me on Friday.
I think I'll put them both on the rear and keep the coopers on the front and use the Mickey Thompson as the spare and the last cooper as the spare spare:thumb2
Next on the list is a decent rear bumper and a full set of late 17" patrol wheels tomatchmy spare, I think that will have to wait until next year:rolleyes:

They don't look half as big on but I needed a spare. now I have two spares.
only problem I have now is that the 37" spare is too big for the back door:doh
So I guess a roof mount is in order, leaving space on the rear door for some other useful bit of inspiration:nenau

As long as it's not too heavy to be getting it up there and taking it down when needed.
Rear shelving looks good.

I can manage it for now...
I have a spare spare wheel carrier that can be bolted to the roof rack and a padlock to keep it there:thumb2
I can then make a decent cycle carrier for the rear door:thumb2

As I thought the new wheel n tyre doesn't go any where near on the carrier:doh
Easiest solution for now is ratchet astrap ti to the roof rack and secure with a chain n padlock.
