Are the old square headlight terranos 2.7?
My mate seems to think the advert says 2.8? :nenau

no they are all 2.7, Rick
terranos diesels are only 2.7 or 3.0
old square headlights can either be 2.7 diesel or 2.4 petrol.
From the title, the Mk I Terrano is the older WD21 range as opposed to the R20 model we know now.
It was built and sold between between 1985 - 1995 ish +/- a year.
The Terrano II (R20) started life around 1994 with the rectangular head lights.
The Ford Maverick (R20) ( Terrano II in disguise) in 1994 was called the Maverick Mk I
The 2.7 diesel has been around for a very long time, nearly 30 years
The early Terranos only ever had a 2.7 diesel as standard fitment. As Rick says, they also had the 2.4 petrol too
Other 4x4's of that era, like the Trooper had 2.8 engines
Rustic
I was trying to add this bit as an edit, but I ran oit of time, so here it is..
In America, and other countries the earlier WD21 version was actually called the Pathfinder, and as well as the 2.7 diesel, also had a 3.0 litre v6 petrol engine.
Wait for this... it was available in 2 or 4 wheel drive.
This probably explains a haynes manual for the earlier Pathfinder, and there was never one for the R20 version, even though they were in prduction for over 13 years.
I like others in the early days, bombarded Haynes with requests for a manual, only to be told, the production run was not enough to warrant it. :doh

You do have to watch some of the ones listed on Ebay, as people will say anything to sell them, I even saw a WD21 being listed as a Toyota Surf body on a Nissan Terrano Chassis....
Our WD21 has the same engine as the R20, just pre-intercooler. All the general service bits are available, as it shares a lot with the early R20's, and running gear joints seem OK as well, only problem with the WD21 is getting the more major spares, as we are finding, like Brake backing plates... You have to buy everything from abroad, and the carriage costs are ridiculous. Sometimes you hit lucky and find one being broken up, but then you are in a fight with every other WD21 owner to get the bits.
I would not recommend it as a car you want to off-road, and potentially risk breaking bits, as you could find it off the track for a long time waiting for that bit to turn up on Ebay...

Hehe, my mums partner is called clive. He loves his crazy audio setups :thumb2
After seeing the terrano, and living in a flooded hemyock with an mr2 that scrapes over pebbles he was considering a terrano.
Think there may been a bit more confusion in this thread:confused: Alex were you on about the Terrano 1 which is more boxy or the Terrano II R20 MK1 which had the same body shape as your motor but with Square headlights & no bonnet scoop like Rustic's motor ?

A real square model with oblong headlights and different body shape.
Sorry for confusion thought it was just mk1 :)
I'll see if Clive can log on as me and load up the pics, it is certainly unique.

That's a MK1 T2 R20, and it will have a non-intercooled 2.7 turbo engine in. That is the model the light guards you put up the other day would fit.
This is mad! I don't understand the point of all those speakers? it wont sound any better,in fact it will probably distort like hell ,and you cant, drive around with it playing at that volume! In fact I remember reading in the paper of a guy who had a set up like this, and would drive up and down the local high street with it on full blast; Until he was arrested for causing a newsance and his car was confiscated,:lol:lol:lol:lol
one of the lads in the village fitted a new sound system in his car .... sounds good too , but I only heard it from half a mile away so cant really say :augie:o:rolleyes:
Link not working for me Alex:(
