Does anyone know when the silly road tax started on the Terrano's??

I've been browsing and seen a couple for sale, one is an 05 plate and the other is a 54 plate.

XR6R is 100% right:thumbs & at this date some are still 55 plates so if you go to look at one check the reg date:thumbs mines a 55 plate first reg november 05 & the tax is £280 a year now that might seem bad to a lot of people but it wasn't an issue for me as my 02 plate astra was £270 a year so for an extra £10 a year I don't have to worry about a drop of rain or snow:lol

Mind, the way the government are banding around the possible effects of global warming with these floods, I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to hammer (4x4 gas guzzlers), as they see us.

seems so unfair that the same truck, engine wise has 3 different ved

so newest are deemed dirty base on CO yet older versions that could have more
flex on exhaust output are less.

so 55 is last safe plate, a few 06s too.

when we got the 52 plate parkers said it was, or could £440+ but the first few
years had neen reigned in, do fear that these could go upto post 06 levels if
they want to score points against us poluters.

Well I've seen a really sexy 05 plate in Grey, going to phone the seller tomorrow and see what miles are as they have not disclosed. Don't mind 100k or so but much more than that and I'd be getting a bit worried because I've got to think of how long I'd be keeping it and miles I'd be putting on. Only thing is it doesn't have the roof rails so may have to remove mine to fit on the new one. :o

It's very unfair same motor/engine but different Taxes but it's hit all makes but to make you feel better just be glad you weren't silly & bought a new RR as the tax is £1000 a year:eek::eek::eek: they'll prob all get scraped as I can't see them selling once they hit the second hand marked:augie yet my brother has bought a brand new fiesta 1L turbo (faster than the 1.6) his insurance dropped & the road tax is £0 a year:eek: now if we all bought one do you think the zero tax would stay ? I don't think so:augie

surely greener to keep old motors running than building new ones, as how ever clean they
are theres still all that polution from production.

suppose could run a fiesta, ditch the caravan, take foreign holdidays, spend our money
overseas, plus aircraft polution contributing too,.....

OK guy's, an 05 plate with 130k on it. How much do you reckon it's worth and is it worth a look with 130k on it?

130k on these is nothing as long as it's not been abused, does it have good history, oil/filters changes etc.
as for the price, it depends on the condition and spec...does it have man steps and manly A/C for instance.

It should be clean underneath at that age, but have a good check for rust, it may have spent years by the sea

:clap:clap So true..

Basically the tax dates are...
registered before 1 March 2001 £220
registered before 23 March 2006 £280
registered before 23 March 2006 £475
registered before 31 March 2010 £840 if you could get one of this age!!

Well this is it but not too sure about it, certainly can't go to see it until after the weekend. The dealer assured me that it's got a good service history with it but then he would wouldn't he.

im off until next Thursday, give me a tinkle if you fancy a drive out. It reads well, looks well but it just needs scrutinizing. True the mileage is high, so id be looking for worn prop shafts, UJ's, clutch, gears etc etc. as above though, if its been looked after then itll be fine. For me however, it seems too expensive for such high mileage. Sure, then ENGINE will be ok, but its everything else. For example what if the handbrake cables are worn? that's £150 there.

From the pic's it looks tidy:augie what are you doing with your T2 Jim ? you could pull the engine out of it & keep it as a spare aswell as other parts & weigh in the chassis & shell then you'll have your own parts store to keep you going for quite a few years:augie

Not really got the room to store things like that but I like your thinking. Thinking along the lines of robbing the roof rails though unless CNC comes up with a set but that's only if I get another. I've seen another with lower miles but it's an auto. What ever I can't do anything this weekend I'm just too busy.
Mine has private plates on which I want to keep so I'll probably just buy the new one and set the ball rolling to get plates swapped over before selling mine on. Assuming of course that I do get another.
I'd not thought about an Auto before, don't know a great deal about them other than the towing capacity is not as big.

I phoned them, I think there's a lot of dealers tend to hide the mileage that way.

I'm miffed!!!! I'd seen another Terrano for sale but couldn't get to see it this weekend because I was on a First Aid course. It's SOLD!!!!!!!!! but I passed the course though it doesn't make me feel any better. So far all the other's for sale at the moment seem to be rotten. Decided the 05 plate is a bit too many miles on it for my liking.
