I am looking for a cheep car for my mum, which is a nightmare, as she gives nothing other than price to narrow it down by.

Actually, to be fair some cars are off the list, since she has already had a bad experience with them, the latest being the peugeot 206, that after paying out to have the Auto gearbox issues fixed, has now blown the cylinder head.

Anyway, I am looking at a 2001 Nissan Almera 1.8SE manual and wondered if anyone knows what things tend to be issues on this car and engine.

Cheers

I don't know too much about these as they are so reliable they are dull! I think they are a cam chain, they have similar issues with MAFs as with the Terranos but otherwise I think they are a good car!

Cheers.. Been wading through reviews, but part of me says they are a waste of time, people marking it down, as a bulb blew, or the previous owner smoked in it..Doh...

Seems they may have a gearbox issue, and maybe a head issue i need to look into a bit more, from what I have read so far, but again, as we all know, a person who becomes a bit unhappy with their car over something annoying, can go from being it's biggest ever fan, to hating it, and scrapping it almost over night.

I did say that, but she says it is too big... and every time she gets in it, she smacks her head, even when you remind her about it. :doh
