Just thought I should pass on a message from Briggie, his lappy has died and so cannot get on line till he gets another which he has not got the money for, I have a spare but when I charged it and tried to turn it on nothing happens, had it worked He would have been welcome to it, so does anyone have such an item that they do not want, PM me if so, Rick

Poor sod seems to have a shocking amount of bad luck with all things hardware and mechanical :eek:Rick can you get the description of the laptop's ailments and then we can ask Clivvy. He's the 'puter guru and may have an answer or even a cheap lappy :D

oops, sorry guys! The laptop needs a new screen inverter and/or bulb. I don't quite have time yet to go look but the part is £15 for the inverter and if its the bulb I wouldn't bother to be honest (im fairly sure its the inverter due to the coffee spillage).

The job is easy enough to do, I just need the laptop to do it - I might see if he can drop it off today as I have a day off.

in saying that, sounds like Jim is sorting a replacement, maybe at that point he can grab Peters old one and it can be fixed?

I might be able to help you guys out :thumb2

We have loads of laptops at work that are only 4-5 years old that get replaced and are more than impressive spec wise

We just end up binning them but staff can make a "contribution" and take them home for personal use.

I can pick up Core 2 Duo's with 160GB HDD's and 2GB RAM and put Windows 7 on there for you for the grand sum of £50/£60?

Would anyone be interested?

Just to help the forum out :)

that's jolly good of you! I don't need any myself (I work in a place that sells laptops!) but I am sure there will be plenty of people looking for one at that price!:bow

Rick and Everyone, it's what mates do simples. It's ethos of this club me thinks.

Anyhoo glad your back Pete and no need to give the laptop back, keep as a spare or give it to the grand children if you want.

I've not found another car forum that has been as friendly and welcoming as this one.

The "family" has helped me out when I've needed it so what goes around comes around :thumb2

tbh jim , i think the fact this is a nissan forum is a secondary issue .....we are friends and family first who share a common interest :thumb2
