OK here's another car question. I've been out looking at cars this morning and looked at two, Skoda Roomster and the Nissan Quashqi. Would prefer a diesel but doesn't have to be. Has anyone got any experience of them.

The Roomster is really really practical for me and loads of room but aint the best looking car in the world. Slightly cheaper too and should have the VAG reliability. The middle seat at the back is crap, it's more of a platform with a seatbelt. Leg room and practicality is stunning.

The Quashqi is by far the best looking of the too inside and out. Has a better back seat. The diesel is £30 a year road tax and petrol is £260. Although perfectly adequate is defo not as practical boot wise. higher off the ground and nicer seating position. Costs a bit more to buy too.

What's your opinions?

Its clear which way you are leaning, and although I have no experience with them on looks the qwaskiii thingamajig however you pronounce it :lol

I think they look quite stylish. Go to a main dealer suited and booted and test drive both

The missus has just bought her third new Skoda in a row, she did 60000 miles on the other two in 5 years and never had a breakdown on the road, the first one was a 2008 Fabia and it needed a cam sensor when the EM light came on, second one was a 2012 Fabia and it had a sticky seatbelt replaced under warranty, and a stone hit the radiator but that wasn't the cars fault. Skoda ain't a joke any more.

I don't really like the Qasquai or whatever it's called, to me it's got too much Renault DNA in it for my liking.

I've been to "The Car People" to look at them today, bought from before and as far as bigger garages go they seem fair to deal with. I ain't going to buy privately so I know I'll pay a higher price in that respect. Thinking about selling the wifes car privately to see if we can get a bit more for it. Thought about px the Terrano but we need the practicality of the Terrano for the dog cage. Also Terrano is worth sweet FA px too just an easy way to get rid.
I often carry groups of teenagers and their kit in my car, on a shortish distance Terrano is ok, wifes car far too small. I was asked about taking a trip off which is about 250 miles with a weeks worth of kit for them and me. Terrano would fit it all in fine but not sure I'd like to travel such a distance. Wifes car I'd jump in and drive but couldn't fit teens and kit in it.

It all adds complications, have been texting with Clivvy today too.

If it's a one off trip, just hire a biggish car?

It's quite cheap if you book in advance.
