How are these areas coping with the floods?
I know things can change rapidly with the low water tables.
and depending on how things go I want to plan a return visit in maybe easter time.
I think theres at least 2/3 people that maybe interested already.
but if I do this it will take some planning and date arrangements.
I would be most greatfull of any help.
i.e if I am to organise a trip away I need to learn how to have a tablet with gps for mapping on the go.
I read petes post about the most recommended tablet the nexus 7?
will that suit?
elty you need help me with this one:bow
plus I will need to know from me mates on here:augie
on open /closed lanes im thinking of. Fez/pete:kissy
and maybe try meet up again.
:thumbs:thumbs
Easter time might be a good idea as the ground will have hopefully dried out a bit. Makeitfit had a thread going the other day about tablets & I think he was liking his new one but a few others were mentioned:thumb2 Not sure if there is any members of GLASS still on here these days I know there used to be when I was last a member:augie

me mate elty normaly takes us out and plans the routes and has it down to a fine art of navigating without having to pull up every 5 mins to check where were going.and makes sure before we go out all the lanes are open and doable.
Im sure to catch up with him soon.he will teach me im sure.
but theres nothing like Fez leading:augie:lol

I have been tinkering with an App on my Android device called Alpine Quest which I have been having fantastic results with;

I have also been using an application on my Toughbook called MemoryMaps with all of the OS 25k Explorer maps on there, I used it in my trip to Llangollen and it was fantastic

looks good. I will look into which tablet. does memory map cost owt?
If you give me a grid reference of any lanes you are unsure about I can advise if it's closed, temp closed or like one of the lanes near strata open but erosion has made it not passable.
or I could just come.
Max 6 trucks in total though

I'm just starting with Alpine quest, it had great reviews ;) There's a version free on App brain but do a google search and you'll be able to get the full version free :D

As Fez said, there's a lot of water damage locally so we'll need to check nearer the event and see what state the lanes are in :thumbs

I have a lot to do and have as yet not got any idea of when I will be free.
but I will be going wales this year.
between easter and june at some point.
hopefully meet up with a few like minded people and make a holiday of it.
I will be practicing with a gps mapping application soon and keep an eye on other peoples plans on this thread and the 14 rally thread.
