I am selling my 4.2TD safari as spares or repairs

The turbo is on its way out, it smokes over 2k rpm, and the brakes are worn down to wafers, I have a new set of discs and pads to go on, and the turbo will be about £250 on ebay,

MOT and tax till feb but driving may be difficult due to having no brakes.

Make me an offer around £1500

Tanks for your time :)

i bet you can get more than that for it on ebay...

i have seen a short wheel base near me.. parked up for 6 months or more and i have been talking (begging) to the wife about me offering 2k for it and expecting to need to weld loads on it..

Construction site, but yes. Thats the one,

Sold for £1700, i could have probably held out for a little bit more, but needed a working truck, so it needed to go.

Considering I bought it for £600 and its hire has earned me £1500 over the past 5 months, I have not done too badly from it. I have got a replacement for monday, its not a patrol, but seems to be pretty capable

2.8 Pajero

Looks in nice condition:thumb2 Love the curtains they'll come in handy when your sleeping in the truck after it's broke down:naughty only joking mate I do like pajero's, spent quite a bit of time in my mates when he was setting up his business as we had to collect & deliver fish tanks all over the place & can say you can just get a 6x2x2ft tank in the back:lol My other mate sadly hasn't had much luck with his pajero, head, injection pump & just the other month the turbo went bang:doh oh don't drive it over to spain as you'll get pointed & laughed at as pajero means something else in spanish:lol:lol:lol hence why mitsubishi renamed it again for that market

like any car the paj has its problems you seem to have had one of the big ones sorted tho, there is another big one cant remember exactly what it is, summat to do with the fuel filter/pump iirc and the seals, the 2.5 model seems to have fewer problems than the 2.8 :nenau

Pajero in spanish means :jerkit: :lol

so they renamed it shogun for the european market, very capable trucks but very thirsty.

I know a few people with them that swear they are the best thing on the planet but equally know the same amount of people that wish they never owned one, its swings and round abouts and all down to personal preference.

My brother had a 2.8 for at 6 years, he had no trouble with it but as stated, it had a drink problem....20mpg.

A mate bought one for towing his caravan, phoned me to say he had just bought it from a garage and drove it home. He noticed it was running a bit hot, TAKE IT BACK!!, I told him, but no, he started to delve and found the cooling fan on the air con had seized, new one fitted by him, still got hot....£2000 later, he sold it on at a huge loss, I think he had to have a new head and other things done....MUG

Not 100% sure, but I think the engine block or the head can't be skimmed on these things, he was told something like this :nenau

To be fair the 4.2 was pretty thirsty anyway :D

The jobs that have been done by the previous owner in the last six months were as follows

New head and gasket
New turbo
New fuel pump and seals
New viscus cooling fan fitted
New discs and pads

There were a couple of advisories on the MOT but nothing serious, the worst bit I have spotted at the moment,

It loses oil pressure when coasting, but I have changed the oil as it was knackered, it was like water.

The front drivers side shock bush has gone, not worn out gone, its just not there. so I need to order and fit a new one of those. Both sides obviosly :thumbs
