Hi guys and girls,

Thought I'd pop in and say 'Hi'. I have just purchased a Ford Maverick 2.4 5 door. What a bargain used buy! I was looking for something Japanese and chain driven and I knew the Terrano/Maverick link so had a good look around. I needed a 7 seater as my trustee Merc W124 estate has died (short term) and I found this lovely truck locally. 2.4 Maverick GLS with 98k miles, history and under £1k. Madness but good for me :clap I have signed up to get some I sight on these undervalued trucks. Looking forward to discovering more about these great value beasts :thumbs

Welcome Mate

Plenty of knowledge here :), chassis, electrical, body and interior were are all experts

However any tricky questions around the 2.4 lump and it seems that "Solarman216" (Rick) is the go to guy as he has a few purely for off road use I think so as you can imagine a lot of repairs needed

As long as you've paid your £10 for the year PM me and I'll get you added to the Milner Off Road list so you are eligible for club discount

How is the truck for rot?

Many thanks for the warm welcome. Hope you all had a good Christmas in amongst the weather chaos. This might make you smile...

Drivers window not working but could hear the feint 'clicking' of the relay. So took off the door panel/trim and checked all connections etc. All seemed good... Only then did I notice the bit of 2x2 pine baton wedged in the door holding the window in place :lol

FFS. No mechanism, nothing. Just a bit of wood. Classy. :doh Guess I have my first job then....

The best I can come up with for his one is...
" You've been framed"
:lol:lol

There are plenty of scrappers about, but just check them for rust.:thumb2

Well. The car is primed and set for its first short haul tomorrow - off to Toulouse in France and back. Should be long enough to see how she goes six up with clobber :thumbs

I forgot to say that mine is a 1997 model GLS 2.4 Maverick and by trawling the threads it seems that these pre 2000 cars are a bit better built than later models (notably paint-wise it seems). Mine has no rust whatsoever...

....Just that bit of wood holding the window up mentioned earlier in the thread :lol Could not get the bits in time so my first job on my return in a weeks time.

Let's hope for some snow :naughty

I'm down your way in the morning delivering water in a tanker to Cranleigh, my mate has a 97 swb and it's full of rot, a lot depends on how the vehicle has been looked after and if it grew up by the coast

Well, back from the little road trip. Truck went well. Only rear exhaust box started to blow about 300 miles from home. I managed between 17 and 27 mpg loaded up with seven folk and gear. Very comfortable cruiser. Quiet and very easy to drive. Impressed for the money. No off road yet but thinking of treating it to a Matt black vinyl wrap and some deep dish 16" steelies... :D
