1 way take wheel off lie it down so the inside is facing up with a metal or wood bar has to be stright and just long enough to fit just resting on the outer most rim take tape measure and measure down to where the hub sits take this measurement and c how it compares to the total width of rim dived the total by half then what evar that measure is if its more the the bar measurment thats positive off set if less than that negative off set if that makes sense

Does it matter if its ya spare ?

I've got a 265/70/16 on standard Nissan rim, near enough same diameter as my 31s, would get me home

If it's wrong, then either the tyre will scrub the wheel arch, or stick out beyond the body work.

Different sized wheels on an axle is illegal, dangerous and any excuse for the insurance not to pay out, even if you are blameless. :doh

Different off set must affect stability, and braking.

Obviously, but no different to a space saver in terms of getting u home

Well, you are then limited to a maximum speed as per the label on the wheel, and to anyone looking, it is clear you have a space saver fitted..:thumb2

I would much rather have the correct wheel size with the correct offset
