What I will point out, is that not all rims are suitable for all tyre widths.
Each rim has a width, and this will be approved for a range of tyre widths.

If you go beyond this limit, it will NOT be suitable and could be lethal. Also if you look at the tyre spec, there will be a range of widths of rim that match it
NOT ALL tyres of the same size will have the same range as each other, so what you need to do is get the tyre spec, compare to your rim width.

There is also an insurance issue to consider. This mod is notifiable.

There are also loadings to consider too.

So no easy single answer to this one.
Hope it helps though,
best regards,
Rustic

If my maths is right 205R16's are infact smaller than 235/70R16's so you'll make ground clearance worse:doh

Hi Rick, I went through this exercise when I increased my tyre width to 235/75R15 from my narrower tyres originally fitted.
The insurance company were happy as the later Mavericks had these tyres fitted as standard.

Go bigger :naughty 235/70/16's are gay.
265/75/16's will fit, - trim 'L' off the inside front flaps. Will and also correct the speedo by going bigger.. 235/85/16 will fit, are 2mm taller but not as wide.
