Got rid of those pain in the ass bumper lights at the weekend and swapped the dummy lights in the boot door pillars for proper euro spec clusters :thumb2...

Before

Trim panels open and everything ready to go

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0505_zps1df6ae1c.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0505_zps1df6ae1c.jpg.html)

Nearside bumper light unit out

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0506_zps2d37a727.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0506_zps2d37a727.jpg.html)

Cover now redundant connector and cable tie out the way (the other connector is for the towbar electrics)

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0507_zpsb32cf1ed.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0507_zpsb32cf1ed.jpg.html)

Nearside light cluster out

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0509_zpse6ef875a.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0509_zpse6ef875a.jpg.html)

Offside bumper light next (connector covered and tied up as before)...

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0510_zpsac1d4ce0.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0510_zpsac1d4ce0.jpg.html)

...and the offside light cluster

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0511_zps227f9659.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0511_zps227f9659.jpg.html)

Nearside light connector is completely plug and play, indicator, brakes, rear light and reverse light, but the offside only has indicator and brake (no rear light and reverse light). Reverse light isn't a problem as you're only meant to have one on the nearside but I obviously need an offside rear light so crimpers and piggyback connector to the rescue...

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0512_zps28c68ce6.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0512_zps28c68ce6.jpg.html)

... and run a cable under the boot carpet to the offside pillar

http://i1348.photobucket.com/albums/p740/barrbeast/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0513_zps88502529.jpg (http://s1348.photobucket.com/user/barrbeast/media/New%20rear%20lights/Photo0513_zps88502529.jpg.html)

All ready to fit the new offside cluster :) The other connector is for the fog light (for connecting into the bulb holder for the reverse light)

Offside cluster all fitted

Job done! :thumbs Next step is to cover the holes in the bumper with checker plate.

... and just while I'm posting pics, here's one of Foxy last weekend with loaded roofrack, ready to head down to Birmingham for the Midlands Super Spartan (was taking down some kit for Fez :thumb2)

Looking better mate :sly
I'd advise taping up those joins with self amalgamating tape though . Keeps them water proff, OR you can get heat shrink waterproof stuff now. You'll be suprised where water will get after a good wading session :naughty

Cheers Pete, will pop some tape on them when I do the checker plate covers, although to be honest I reckon if I'm ever wading so deep that water is getting into those light clusters then I'm gonna have bigger problems! :lol

Looks real neat did you consider leaving lower lamps in position and using one as an extra rear or brake lamp and use low wattage bulbs as repeater indicators ?

That's what a lot of the Aussies do as in some areas the low level lights are a requirement but I wanted rid as I think the low level ones are too vulnerable to damage when you're offroad (mine actually popped out when I did Strata Florida).

I also think they look too much like an afterthought when compared with the other light clusters and likely aren't going to be visible to other drivers if they're close behind anyway.

Want to do the same with mine on my Y60,anyone know if there are holes for passing the new wires or will I have to drill out a route?

Yep I did it on mine but you will need to do some cable mods. They're not plug n play, but easy enough :thumbs
