it sadly took me about 10 seconds, but Suz could not do it, and gave up in the end.

I am useless with numbers so what is the secret, Rick

i'm the same with numbers. I have a dyslexia to maths i'm sure of it. Always have had problems with numbers. Unless my wages are wrong then i'm like Einstein

not really to do with numbers in the true sense as such...

oh and 6095 =3 obvious really...:thumb2

Exactly... so how long did it take for you to see it... I am not sure whether to be happy I could see it so obviously, or sad I am in the same group as pre-school.

hint

0=1, so 0000=4 :nenau

8888=8.. that's my favourite...:lol

I've seen it and know the trick, but couldn't solve it first time round.
I have a logical mind and only saw them as numbers; nothing else.

last answer is 2, took a while to figure out aswell

more or less straight away like you.

This type of puzzle with numbers makes people look at the maths and the logic, this will make their mind boggle, and they wont find the answer, a young child with no knowledge of maths will be looking at patterns. shapes etc.

Have I hinted enough already...
So. 6= 1 and 9=1

R1cho
20-08-2013, 23:39
but then again 6666 = 4 aswell :lol

rustic
20-08-2013, 23:41

No ... no marks for this one..
It was already given in the question...:doh

Richo.... see me...

You really have to concentrate.
This , was also in the question.:thumbs:thumbs

I dropped out of mathematics at school, so no Bugger all :doh

rustic

You could do something with letters, like I am going to bed.

going =3
bed = 3

This makes it more obvious and gets rid of the maths with numbers.

good night =5

You don't need maths for this one see my post above with letters above...

Richo.... see me...

stop picking on me = 4

I must be totally thick then because I can not see any pattern or anything.

Surely that's 6?

yes it is

Lazy-Ferret

yes it is

DOH:lol

Spoiler alert = 5 .... 5 is the number of loops in the numbers or letters. E.g., 0 is a loop, 9, has a loop at the top, and 8 has 2 loops.

An interesting point.:doh
You will notice that "4" was left out of the original posting, because it depends if your test criteria is based on enclosed circles, or enclosed shapes like 4, but also the font for 4, can also be written without any bits enclosed.

Still a good post, not a good idea to have late at night, makes your brain too active.:confused::confused:

Like you say 4, is a bad one, but, "g" would be the same, as in some font's it has a loop at the top and bottom.

I like the "Insomniac questions", anything that makes the brain work... The other one is the "26 L in the A" type ones, some of those are so annoying.

i done it this way:D

How many enclosed circles are there in the number 8?there are 2
How many enclosed circles are there in 6 or 9 or 0 ?only one.
How many in 1, 2, 3, 5 etc. none so they score zero

Add up the scores for the numbers... 8080 = 6 enclosed circles...

I can only think it is Red, purely as it is the only 3 letter colour I can think of, but not sure the significance of the numbers yet.

Got it... it's how many consonants and vowels in the word...

Big and Daft
21-08-2013, 18:02
vowels and consonants?

black has 4 consonants and 1 vowel = 41

21 = 2 consonants and 1 vowel, so red does fit. Bay and tan could also work :D
