Hello people,
I have just joined the world of the nissan patrol
I needed a 4x4 for work, and with a limited budget of under £1000 GBP I was a little limited on my choices.
A friend of a friend put me in touch with another friend who had a 1994 Nissan patrol for sale, with in my price range.
I went to have a look and came home with this ..............................

......for £600, I am normally a big fan of Land rovers, but after 2 days on site with the partol I am thinking that after the contract has ended I may be able to restore it back to something nice for camping and family use.

Having looked around tiniternet, I tend to agree! :thumb2
Not sure on the milage as the odo stopped working 10 years ago at 108,000km
believed to be more like 240,000km. but seems to run ok. been well serviced, its the TD 4.2.

Thanks Deano, need to know more about yours, it looks great. If mine looks half as good as that I will be happy.
I have a list of bits I need to get sorted or replaced, but struggling to find.
both axles are worth £500-600 too!

Your wings don't look too bad from the photos compared to some I've seen.
Wings are pretty rare so you might want to get them repaired if possible.
I'm very lucky in that my motor came from Cyprus and then I believe it spent some time abroad, not to mention it appears to have been rust proofed from new. That hasn't stopped me giving it more treatment to keep it rot free.
I've found that all my service parts are available from my local motor factors and there's plenty on ebay too if that's your thing.
They're a simple beast, bit like a Landie 110 with some comfort and luxuries but missing the oil leaks !
I put MT gear oil in my main box because they are known to be tight on gear changes when the weather is cold. Seems a common thing with the strong old Nissan boxes. Beware not to get certain oils because it can attack the syncros I've read.
I've set the tappets, fitted a snorkel, tweaked the injector pump timing, turned up the fuel, put a bigger bore exhaust downpipe flexy and straight thru middle box from a 200 tdi Disco on mine and it goes nicely.
Mine has an inline injector pump and I run it on a large percentage of rapeseed veggie oil at a pound a litre.
I have a 2 inch suspension lift and 1 inch body lift and 265/75/16 tyres. I've resisted going bigger on the tyres because of the added rolling resistance and mass that harms fuel consumption and braking, simply because I drive mine daily.
Future plans if I ever get the time are to make front and rear bumpers for mine, though they are available, but like me, you're probably not gonna want to spend hundreds of pounds on them.
I take it since yours is a Safari like mine, that it's still on km speedo ? If so I got a Nissan 300 zx speedo face from ebay, which I modded to fit and re calibrated the speedo myself so that I could have a mph/kmh speedo. It's just a slightly different green when lit up at night and a very slightly different font but acceptable and better than guessing your speed with the cameras everywhere.
Anything else you need to know, just give us a shout.
Looks like Aussie spec with the indicators in the front wings,go on e-bay,loads of interesting stuff there(postage is querie),even on their sites stuff is accessible.Nice beast.

Thanks, what I forgot to mention, is that work are PAYING ME £70 a week to use it on site, plus paying for the fuel, so in 8.5 weeks the truck is effectively free, the contract should last for 18 moths, so if the truck lasts that long it will earn me £5400 approx, so I may invest a bit of cash getting it looking and running well. At the end of the day in 8 weeks its a free car :clap

Yes that's the "Clarkson" button :D it says POWER and does just that. It will hold the revs longer between changes and so allow better acceleration :sly

Ah, so that was on the missing bit of sticker :lol
So is it to hold any gear you're in to stop the auto shifting ? Like say a long drag uphill or down hill engine braking etc
or a safety device to stop accidental shifting from park?

I would guess at your last suggestion, just prevents accidental movement of the selector.???

Has it got an interlock that prevents you moving the selector without your foot on the brake and the igntion on? If so, that red lever is to release it in case the vehicle is immobilised and needs towing etc

That is what it does on the WD21, handy when working on the dashboard and the stick is in the way of removing bits. As you say, you can only move the selector when the key is turned, and your foot is on the brake, but press that, and you can move it any time.
