This is a absolute bargain, almost giving it away, this lot weighs a ton (nearly) it would cost over twice this at my steel stockist and makes a superb job of those rusty sills, you can jack the vehicle up under these.
Cannot believe no one needs it - last chance before I use this steel on something else, seems such a shame when it works so well as a sill kit, it's not that bad a job :thumbs

4 lengths of new steel that I originally purchased to replace both sills on a friends (now scrapped) SWB Terrano as stated below:
Two - Rectangular Box section measuring 80mm x 40mm x 4mm wall thickness, each being 1710mm in length.
Two - Hollow Steel Tubes measuring approx 34mm outside diameter x 3mm wall thickness, each being 1740mm ...

4mm seems a bit thick, will that not make welding to the existing metal a bit trickky?
Bit far away for me, but I'm thinking of doing the same repair. so the 80mm faces downwards and the 40mm faces to the side of the truck? Is the tube welded to the bottom outer of the box section then - is this really needed?
What did you do with the outer sill while you did the repair? Mine may have to come off fully as there's a lot of rust in there, did wonder about getting some Ali treadplate stuff to stick on the outside, like a landy sill 'protector'.
Main concern is getting the thing safe and MoTable!

The 80mm is horizontal the tube becomes the outer sill and makes a good rock slider, its's easy to weld this lot in, maybe it's a bit over the top but it will last a lifetime buddy.

Given I'm so far away, I've just been to collect a couple of 80x40x3mm box section to replace the rust. It'll be my mate that's doing the bulk of the welding, but I'm curious how you get the thicker box to weld nicely to the wafer thin steel left after the tin worm has been munching?
Do you end up welding at the top corners of the box giving and equivalent of prepping thicker steel with a V groove? My MIG is half decent Cebora but 3mm will be at the top end of it's capabilities!

When welding concentrate the heat on the thick steel and weave also drop the power a tad and like I say point the torch 2wards the thick. Metal sounds simple but not easy

Cheers, I'm guessing my mate will know this already as he's done years of welding in the past. I will have a go while he's there as I want to learn this 'ere dark art of sticking bits of metal together.
I presume the inner sill join will be the hardest just from an access point of view. Fingers crossed the weather stays okayish for Sunday.

I must admit , I did mine whilst the Mav was on a4 post lift and sat on a stool whilst welding, you will get more daylight under the car though when you cut the original sills off, do the sills one side at a time and jack the box section into place ensuring the door gaps are ok - then weld it in.

We'll see how it goes on Sunday after the rot has been cut away, not expecting much but daylight left after that!
