Aerial replaced

Just removed my broken wing-mounted electric aerial and replaced it with a short rubber one - what a PIG of a job! Removing the electric one was straight forward enough, but fitting the cable and retaining nut of the new one to the underside of the wing was well nigh impossible unless you have 12" long fingers the diameter of knitting needles. Finished up by supergluing the nut to the connector and tightening it by turning the aerial!
Then to cap it all the cable was too short by 2" - had to fit the radio then get my hand in from the back to insert the plug - never again! :naughty

i understand your pain:(, i had to do exactly the same thing when i first got my truck, luckily a have long thin arms and fingers so it made it 1% easier :rolleyes:

I can sympathise with you.i have fitted a (CB twig dv 27 whip) to the rear of my truck.And i accessed the connections through the rear flip off light panel.
And that was tricky enough,with hands like a bunch of banana's.
But no matter how i tighten the locking nut up.after a few minutes the twig starts swaying side to side.So my plan is to remove the roof radio Aerial (never use the radio)And fit the CB twig in its place.:)
Obviously using the CB cable and connections.

I replaced mine with a standard telescopic aerial, but I didn't have to route the cable all the way to the radio, as on my Mav, the original fit electrical aerial, actually had a connector inline with the aerial, under the wing, so was no problem.

The problem I had was having to use some of the original chrome fittings and plastic grommet off the electric aerial, as the angle of the wing and the diameter of the hole was not exactly compatible.

I was quite lucky I replaceded mine when I changed the wing.
