View Full Version : Towing a car
Hi gang, just a quick question I've got a terrano 2.7 and need to pull a non running car up a lane which the first part is a bit steep, I've never used the truck to tow and I'm a bit nervous as the car I need to pull is 1.4 ton. Shall I use the 4x4 and if so high or low. The reason for this is because I need to get this car which is a laguna into my garage around the back of my house but like I said the lane is a bit on the steep side and is mostly Tarmac. Thanks again :nenau

Just leave it in 2wd will pull it no problem
Leave it in 2WD or you'll get transmition wind up as none of the wheels will be able to slip/spin on tarmac & you'll end up not being able to steer & could poss break something. T2's don't have a centre diff like some other jap 4x4's or LR's which can/do use 4WD on tarmac

Towed a Volvo on a 2 wheel dolly and had a couple of steep hills, plus one T junction on a horrible angle. First high is amazingly powerful. No need for 4x4 on tarmac.
Unless the incline is above the average,Then 2wd should be fine. But if in doubt stick it in 4w high. And you will have no problems.
