Now bear with me here, I am might attempt to turn my Hyundai into a cross country soft roader thingymabob, as gay is that sounds I might have somthing here, I'll mod the plastic and metal sheilds from my terranos to fit underneath, possibly fit rally tires and it should be ok, thin high profile tires mean traction and it'll probably be a fun little Bugger, obviously I won't to to the extremes that solarman does regarding mud but I think I might be on to somthing:thumb2, I gave been spray painting so coluld be slighty high but I think I could do it, as if you look at the Volvo xc 70 for instance, all that is, is a v70 that's lifted, has rock sliders and bigger tires and suspension, dunno if I could lift the atoz as its sub frame and not separate chassis but come on, it would be pretty cool:D
I'll look more in the morning :lol

reminds me of a person I knew :augie , who thought that putting two 100 watt linear amplifiers in series would give him 200 watt output :augie :lol:lol:lol , but in his defence the said person was young and inexperienced at the time

Thanks mate, that means a lot:)
I always look for a different route in modding vehicles, not just the same as everyone else, I like to be different:thumb2
I do cone up with some weird things:lol love pulling things apart and seeing how they work, also see if I can turn it ito somthing else :lol
I even taken vehicle partss to school to show people how they work, won twice with science projects showing how a diff and alternator works, spun up a terrano alternator on the desk with I drill to power a light and charge a battery,

I think it will break before you can say greenlane. You also won't have low box which makes life on the vehicle alot easier.
But go for it if you want the challenge ;)

well, i know it's not Nissan related but i thought i'd create this thread on the modding of my little car, made a wood-rack and also a roof console/storage, still need to mount things to it as I'm fitting a light over where the wing nut is so that'll be hidden, also want to have the amateur radio mounted up their with the mic as well. also, drop-down storage cubby holes, and a outside thermometer :thumb2, the wood-rack as i call it, but you all know them as a fence or gate:lol will be getting stained so it doesn't rot, then i'll be able to put bikes, supplies etc up their for when i'm camping out or on long journeys
i'll be also fitting spotlights and a split-charge, would like to lift the suspension but having sub-frames and not separate chassis, i do not know to to do it

Why won't they insure you for a 4X4? Blinking crazy.
Have you told them you have had a haircut... That may help. :D

It's slightly modded, made a roof console and fitted a roof rack:D
Ohh taken the car for a spin and the breaks failed:eek: when coming down a hill approaching a narrow bridge, had to slow down with the handbrake and gears:doh just burst break pipe though, so I'll just replace the brake lines :thumb2

Well done, I hope you didn't panic, sounds like you had a scary experience and learned there are other ways to slow down a vehicle, other than your foot brake :clap

go for it, be suprised what you can do with 2wd, only got to look at the trialing club
scene, where buggies, beetles all sorts climb some impressive tracks, no proper 4x4s
in sight.
when i first got into landy/4x4 scene was sometime til could get one and having
read od laning attempted several derbyshire routes in my escorts of the day, rwd's,
including houndkirk road which took an age as had to get out often and read the
route. in later years explored some tracks in a front wheel drive maestro, indeed lived
on a farm so had many opportunities, the farmer didnt even have a 4x4, just an old
2wd mazda pickup, with plenty of weight in back always had plenty of traction.

Is the Roller Skate not a dual system braking system? don't car's usually have dual systems that go to opposing wheels?

No, I think the atoz is just front brakes, could be wrong tho

Yes, I think it will be a good car for trails as thetes a lot of suspension flex for a small car,

well, been working on my atos all day again, waiting for mum to finish work then going into the town for more hammerite, i'm future proofing it, very surprised as their was no rot at all on the front end....maybe i'm just used to the T2:lol:lol
also turns out it's been in a front end shunt as the bumper support was bent and there's panels with yellow scribbles on which indicates S/H or pattern parts, even the sub-frame has righting on it:eek:, also their is over spray, but has been done to a decent standard, ohh and i also found out the rad leaks and its missing about 45% of its fins
here's some pics
