Need help here, I'm converting my Hyundai to JDM spec as it looks gay in UK spec, so, I need to 're spray the gray plastic bumpers to body colour, does anyone know what primer I need and have a link to it? As I'm confused on what one to use, can't get hold of JDM bumpers so need to make my own:D

may god be with you....
my mrs had a "getz" as a courtesey car.....like a bit of tin foil wrapped round a noisy outdated 3 cylinder generator! but, if you must, etch primer and a good stretchy paint .

If you want to go just plain black on bare plastic bumpers..
Forever black.
Fantastic stuff. Have been using it for years. Got it originally for the other halfs Golf bumpers that had gone grey, worked a treat. Used it on my Patrol wheelarch extensions, again top results. You do have to reapply it evry couple of years to keep perfect, but two years is a long time and no primers, plasticizers or any of that other hassle. Still on my first bottle too.

Grrrr, can't find any bumpers for my car that are body colour, not even internationally, think painting them will be too expensive as I priced up the primer, then I will have to get the paint from the Hyundai main stealers:doh

Firstly you need to see what your bumpers are made of, some plastics are easier to paint that others. if you look on the back there will be various markings, like the moulding date stamp grid and number, and usually some letters that tell you what it is made from:-

ABS
HDPE
PP
PA
PC/ABS
PU

Depending on which plastic depends on how much work it will take, for example, PP leaches out silicon oils, so has to be treated and sealed before you can get paint (or anything) to stick to it.

If you want to do it on the cheap, you can get a plastic preparation spray from Halfraurds, that cleans the plastic, then use a paint like plasticote to to seal it. The paint has to go on within 30 mins of using the plastic preparation spray though.
