Ok I'm a little pissed now!, just heard somthing from my dad that pisses me right off, a mate he knows has bought a Vauxhall nova, only done 26 thousand miles from new, immaculate interior, its got no rot, a beautiful car example, concourse condition.....well, the guy only bought it to tear to bits and get the shell for 'another' of his rally cars:eek::eek::eek::eek: I nearly fainted when I found out, why do people do this to classics?

There's enough fecking nova rally cars about! You never see a factory fresh one...EVER! because people just wreck them, so I am going to message this guy over facebook and try and get the bits he doesn't want... Why? Because I don't aprove of immaculate vehicle parts being thrown out, I think its a bloody disgrace what people do, I ain't doing this with my Hyundai anyways!

What are you're veiws on this?

well, wtf? what Nova is it? Merit? SR? what? How much did he pay? must have been peanuts if he is doing that because they are generally worth a fair bit of money. I'd have one if I could get a decent 3 door.

they are a decent, basic car. reliable to a degree. They were and still are very popular. The problem is finding one that hasn't been thrashed to within an inch of its life, but as they are so old now, this is less and less of an issue due to more caring owners.

I'd buy one if I could find a cheap one for a run around.

seems a shame to break one up if it was "mint", I just don't get it?

I prefered the face lifted version around J reg.

I'm a purist with classic cars and by classic 15 years plus really. Like to see something factory not tarted up.

Aye, I've also have one, i'd have the saloon version if I could:D its just a shame you cant find original ones any more, I've thought about buying a rally prepared one and converting it back to factory, it I ever get the chance and funds, I will!

I seem to remember it was the boy racers car and the first thing they done was try to mod it. made it look like a pile of scrap sorry. to go against peoples opinions but I never rated the car

erm..we are also expressing the same opinion.:thumbs

point is, there are plenty of UNMOLESTED examples around, its the older chavved up ones that are becoming less and less available. Thankfully there is a more caring following that pick up the Novas that are left, and they are proving to be a decent used car-never a classic, but decent enough.

Aye, its just the novas I've seen around here are all chavved up, I'm not criticizing other opinions, we've all got out own:thumbs. I just thought it seemed a bit of a waist

All ill say is I will not chav up my Hyundai:D it will stay a more or less standard car after hearing about that nova, I'll do a bit of work to it but not to extremes :nono

Same here...

Not only that, but lets face it, very few cars built after the 70's will ever be a "Real" classic... They are built too cheaply, and in to high a quantity.

Personally, I can't see Vauxhall ever having a car last long enough to become a proper classic, regardless of how long one manages to stay relativity standard for, they have no long term style, you only have to look at all the crap the boy racers put on them, only to make them even worse.

Buy them and scrap them, less to clutter up the McDonalds, Burger King, and KFC car parks, and leave their litter laying around..:lol At least a Rally car goes out in some style.

Cracking little cars though, sold a few SR's and GTE's many years ago, always got more than book. (Mind you usually paid over book to take in part exchange too)

Lovely car...:bow

It's 27 years old, and already out lasted most Vauxhall's, not only that, but they were a classic when they rolled off the production line, along with the Supra... No need to bolt crap onto one of them...

My Brother is a MR2 fan, but I think they are a poor sports car. They seem to have a following, but there just never seems anything special about them, and IMHO, they are poorly made, compared to most other Toyotas.

My brother lost the back end of his on a Roundabout, and nudged the curb. It ripped the back axle off, and the wheels went up into the wheel arch, and smashed that, luckily, it was new enough that they did not write it off, but once his insurance came up for renewal, he could not afford to re-insure it either.

Yep much prefer the Celica still has a bit of class and I much prefer a car you have to drive something without all the mod cons that do it for you. i suppose thats why i like the Nissan 4x4s they need proper driving!
