Terrano doesn't need bobtailing on SWB as the wheels are virtually at the back already :D
V8 sound awesome but get hot really quick and don't like water. Unless ofcourse you spend quite a bit more on megasquirt or similar :thumbs

Back in the day I offroaded a few V8 Land Rover products. As said, waterproofing is a bit of a nightmare. Even if you cover all the ignition, quite often a sudden dousing in cold water causes condensation to form INSIDE the dizzy cap. You can use something similar to wd40 in there, but it soon disappears with the heat and you need to re-apply it. The military waterproof ignition systems were good but you aren't gonna find one of them cheap I would guess.
I could go on all day about what I've done to Rover V8's and years ago they were the thing to have, not so sure now, but then they do sound nice. :D
Having said all that, if it's got uprated shafts/cv's/diffs and you are careful with deep water, oh and it's a good price, then why not ?
I like it, But as said above i'd prefer a diesel.
They have plenty of poke, you can put a bigger intercooler, tweak the pump and turbo for some extra ooomppph. 200 and 300tdi are very basic engines.
You could also even think about propane injection for that extra boost.

If I were to change engine id have to go for the 200tdi stronger engine I believe can get one for next to nothing too
yes but the lt230 gearbox that matches the 200tdi are not as strong as the r380 box.
Not sure how easy it's to switch boxe's etc. Must be possible though.

If it's right money, buy it, keep it as it is and enjoy it.
Lets face it, you don't need or have to do much deep water stuff. Converting it to a Tdi, is time and money used up that you could be thrashing it about in the mud instead.
Just my own opinion. I've done a lot of engine conversions and tbh spent most of my life around landies and I just couldn't be bothered any more, hence why I have a Nissan !
