yeah, what I love about these, is how rock solid they are, and the rear door design is what modern cars today use-so it looks the part these days!

yeah, they know what they like!

that one is the three door though, with the funny side windows, but as far as I can remember from seeing the four door, the rear interior is very similar to a Terrano-just basic flat sides etc but loads of room.

Love the boot, would come in handy as a overlander. Sitting in the back drinking a brew using it as a small roof.

not too bad inside, classic feel
hopefully if rick pops on can advise me on mine, as its a nice 4x4 but with tax up this month and needing timing chain fitting cost.... all depends how much and is worth keeping?
all want is reliable working car!!

are the the same head height and int space as the old terrano?
is it the same engine as the 93+ ones?

I think they are a bit bigger inside, they were generally a larger vehicle than the terrano. Its a TD27 engine though-same as Terrano, so its the Turbo, NO I/C, which is good because its more basic and simple!

i/c?
extra room always good, as at 6'4 the more room the beter lol!
think saw one towards weston, liked the outside look, certainly looked wider and more rugged

no InterCooler its just a TD-Turbo Diesel, but nothing wrong with that-means less sensors and electrics, although its only about 96BHP, something like that, whereas the TDI is 125Bhp. To be honest, ive been in a well tuned automatic TD, and it flew, that was Peters (Briggie) and Rick did the work on it, I tell you, it drove like a new car, the engine was excellent.

definitely wider and rugged, just by a good few inches all round.

would that be a lot less power or more economical then?
its def nice looking, altho dont know what an old auto is like.

stinka
21-03-2013, 13:19
It would be plenty powerfull enough

I'd increase boost and turn fuel up ( just tweek rod on actuator and turn fuel screw in pump ) and run veg oil at 80p litre

maverick fox
21-03-2013, 13:24
id like the veg oil but would have to be told how as last time i tried it the engine kaputted, so i either did it wrong or bad car lol bt it scared me off

daft question.......at those mies is the timing chain going to need to be done???? if i was looking to make things easier and cheaper would kind of defeat the object lol!

no, its gear driven, so essentially, nothing to do or worry about, hence why they are in taxis.

as for veg oil, just poor it in, change the filter after 500 miles then youre sorted.

less power, about the same economy, very tuneable though and veg oil will help you out here. Old auto's are fine, gearboxes are excellent if they have been looked after.

maverick fox

gear driven, so more mechanically reliable and sound then.
will def look into it, all depends on other interested parties and if they outdo my meager budget lol.

veg oil....i take it you dont buy from shop and pour straight out of the bottle?

yup, the gear driven engines have proven to be very reliable. Hence why the TD27 has been used since the days of this Mk1, right up to the newer Terranos with the I/C attached.

as for veg oil, you go down to Aldi, buy their special offer veg oil, get a funnel, go out to your car, open the diesel cap, insert funnel, pour in veg oil, and drive off....!

maverick fox
21-03-2013, 13:56
ah, must of been the car when i tried it then, had a serena 4x4, put veg/sunflower oil in and it smoked and drove like was running on syrup.
turns out the cat had been removed tho.

stinka
21-03-2013, 13:59
Veg oil as in chip fat.

I buy 20L of KTC soya oil from booker for £18.49 currently

Rapeseed is apparently better but I've been running soya for about 5 months and its perfect.

I dump 2x20L barrels in on booker carpark then drive round the corner and put £10 worth of unleaded petrol on top of that. Petrol is required when its below 10 degrees ambient temp, and makes it run like a dream. This will not harm your 2.7 truck in anyway as the Bosch vp44 pump is made to take this fuel

clivvy
21-03-2013, 14:00
yeah not all engines are capable of taking veg oil. Not sure about the serena, but I wouldn't pour veg oil into any old diesel, especially a more modern one, they don't like it. The TD27 is an old engine...

stinka
21-03-2013, 14:02
So that gets me just under 3/4 of a tank for £46.98 and I get 250-300 miles depending how I drive

maverick fox
21-03-2013, 14:03
it was an m reg and i hakf hakfed it with deisel.
i wouldnt use veg unless basically got held by the hand on first time as dont want another engine going on me.

clivvy
21-03-2013, 14:08
it wont do any damage at all, you could also use biodiesel if you can find a supplier, that's a bit cheaper than diesel at the pumps and again, wont harm your car.

well, don't pay a lot for it is all I would say, obviously he wants £600, so don't go mad if you bid for it.:thumbs

stinka

Message him and say you'll take it this weekend for £600 cash :D

I'd say its worth up to £1200 if its very tidy

yeah,...it'd have to be VERY tidy for £1200 considering its an auto, but still, these were really well built. I'd be having a right good look at the sills etc although I don't think these suffered quite the same as the Terrano?

maverick fox
21-03-2013, 14:39
if he wants too much more i wouldnt be able to afford it, and i woulndt be allowed if he wanted 1200 lol.
might message him and ask for an offer, shame its not closer.

Rot wise I think nissans are all the same. My dad had an old kingcab Datsun 720 '86 and this was in about 1993, and that was completely rotten

Well, this will be a learning curve... I hope it is OK.

Just trying to sort out how to get it from where it is, back to here, as I will probably have to tow it, as I do not want to insure it until after Easter.

I wondered if it will fit on the towing Dolly, that will give the T2 something to think about...:lol

Is there no one around you that does one day trailer rental i once hired a car trailer only cost 50quid for the day
Nice looking truck by the way
You can also get one day insurance if its taxed and tested or get it recovered back home wink wink

Lazy-Ferret

I like your thinking...

Last time I looked into 1 day insurance, it was about the cost of 4 months of proper insurance.

Looks like you might be right, I have tried to contacted him twice now, and got no reply...

I can't believe you would not be watching the auction end, let alone checking it very soon after, so no reply to an email 24 hours later kind of gets me worried.. :doh

Don't suppose any of you guys wrote the phone number down when it was on the advert?

Has maverick fox got a number he said he tried ringing them
Bit rich when he says he has legal insurance to cover non payers when he doesnt get in touch
I would give it a while longer and then report no contact to ebay

I Sent Maverick Fox a PM, but he has not been on since I sent it.

Like you say, a bit rich... We won't be able to collect it till after Easter now, as we are away for the weekend, but I did tell him that in both the emails.

Good news, the guy has got back to me, and seems to have a good excuse for the delay as well. We talked for a while, and he seems really nice, and happy to tell you absolutely anything about it. It has all it's paper work, including a cross reference parts list, so I should then know which UK Nissan vehicle I need to ask for the parts from.

Only down side so far, is the spare wheel carrier was removed and lost, so it does not have a spare wheel, or anywhere to put it.

We pick it up on Friday.

He said that someone drove from Devon to have a look, who was a Nissan Terrano fan, was it someone from this forum?

spiderpig37
28-03-2013, 06:16
Good news
I think you can pick those swing away spare wheel carriers up no problems
Landrovers tend to fit them to take the weight off the back doors

clivvy
28-03-2013, 09:04
excellent news, really excited for you. I dont think there is a single club member with one of these?

Yeah, the spare wheel carrier should be obtainable from somewhere, or you will just have to stick it in the boot for now or on the roof, or on the side, or on the bonnet....!!!

28-03-2013, 09:05

Down to you stinka my man for finding it on ebay
Always the case no cash at the right time and too far away
Who am i trying to kid mrs wouldnt let me have it

stinka
28-03-2013, 09:52
Indeed, my mrs would go nuts too :D

Gotta sort her a new motor out next tho, we got to get a 7 seater now as our family is 5 big and kids can't fit mates in unless we take my truck, which is usually filthy and mrs won't drive it as its lifted blah blah blah ...

BUT, I think she's coming around to the idea of a nice standard Lwb Terrano, I'm not allowed to mod it tho and tbh it's not that much bigger than a bloody vauxhaul zafira ... So fingers crossed and well have 2 terranos :D

spiderpig37
28-03-2013, 11:37
Im in the same boat cant fit all kids in terrano just in the process of adding another row of seats in a merc vito im doing up
Think im gonna park the terrano up for a couple of years and mod it but havnt told her indoors yet she thinks were selling it
Just need to start a secret mod fund
