Thanks for that info, Richo. Could be a life saver.
Wonder why it's not more widely advertised.

I knew some of that, but there was a lot in there I did not know.. Thanks for posting...
By the way, you can also use 112 on landlines. I found this out accidentally when I worked in telecoms, and on one site, instead of having to dial "9" to get an outside line, you just dialled external calls like you would at home.
To make an internal call you had to dial "8" before the extension number, and unfortunately no one told me this. To make matters worse, the person I needed to speak to was on Extension 112, and I had the shock of my life when I was answered by the emergency operator. I Apologised, and hung up, and tried again, only sods law I got through to the same person, who had no sense of humour, and told me off... I did finally managed to explain that I did not understand why I was getting through to them, as I was dialling 112, and that was when they said that 112 was the new number for the emergency services...

I teach First Aid and have been trained to use 112 but had no idea of it's full potential. Guess what an extra bit of info going into my lesson plans:thumb2

well i thought it would be useful for the hobby that a lot of us have on here, quite often in the peaks i lose signal on my phone and its handy to know that if there was an emergency i can still get through to the right services

Just posted it on another forum and some of the 4X4 groups on Facebook, worth people knowing
Also completed. I knew about 112 as a number, but not the rest of it.
When you get the text back saying send next to 999, i still sent it too 112 and got the "Your phone is now registerd" reply, i dont think it matters if its 999 or 112 but could be wrong.
