Hi guys, I am selling my Maverick!

sad day, but I want to start 2013 afresh, and get some finances in order etc.

so, im selling my Maverick. i have added some pics and videos, all taken today, to show the good/bad points. Its had a lot done to it, such as new No1 injector, new CKP sensor, new oil/oil filter, fuel filter, K&N air filter. Its had a new back box, but front and mid was new when i bought it. Its got "new" alloys recently, with nearly new tyres, new tow ball on the back, and a decent spare wheel and tyre. I have fitted new dash bulbs for the instrument panel, new light bulbs all round last year, and I recently blanked the EGR valve. It had a new starter motor a few years ago, new starter cable, new clamps, new earth straps, known working accelerator pedal fitted, replaced solenoids under the air filter and replaced the fuel filter primer (a lot of this i had as spares from MakeItFit, so fitted regardless of needing to, seemed to run better for it)

its got MOT till 12th Feb, had it put through last year by fixing handbrake and anti roll bar linkage, no advisories. its also had recent ARB links both sides front. Inside is ok, its a workhorse, and has been treated as such, but no dogs. just used for trips to the tip, moving old wood and muck from the garden etc so the back seat frames are a bit messy and rear plastics mucky/marked, but nothing bad, nothing a good valet wont spruce up. new mat fitted also, not that they help its looks.

ok, it will definately need both front wings repaired. I put my finger through the drivers side, demonstarting to someone how easy it would be to poke ones finger through the wing, oops, so thats got some trusty duck tape covering the hole. The other side, has had a crappy repair job done on it by me a few years ago, so that needs doing again and properly.

Both sills were repaired a few years ago, the outer sills were rusty, but inner sill was strong, i would probably suggest they need re doing properly, and welding, but as they are they havent failed on the MOT for the last two years i think it has been. It was noted a while ago that the off side rear seat belt mount might need welding, but again, this didnt fail last MOT either, although it isnt a hole yet, i had rust treated it inside under the carpet and out-the rear carpet although present, has been cut for easy removal but its still in place and tidy but dirty! It had two new front shocks last year i think, or the year before, and i have cleaned out the drainage areas in the front door frame, and also cleaned up the electric window motors to keep things smooth. Sunroof works and is dry, all interior lights work, all electricals work. Rear door although fine, seems to rattle, and i cant figure this out. You can hear it in the video, allthough in the video, you may hear another rattle, thats me leaving the bonnet open, oops. both front belts could do with changing but i have those, and the coolant seems to be fine i changed that last winter. I recently did the oil (15/40 mineral), new filter, new fuel filter also. I did the LSD oil the same time as the engine oil, so thats sorted for another year.

gears and gear box appear fine, no whines or gear selection issues. I had a new clutch fitted i think year before last, full kit including new thrust bearing, so thats good, and not many miles have been done since then-another reason for selling. I simply dont drive it enough, mostly due to the cost of diesel, but also because i have a more economical Fiat for everyday use. As we are getting rid of our caravan (due to never fixing it since buying it over 4 years ago) i now dont need a 4x4 to tow anything!

the car has plenty of little scratches and marks, no major dents though, and although the drive is good (i think) there are little rattles here and there to be expected for a workhorse like this, although it could just be the rear door rattling. I dont think its the spare wheel bracket as i have attempted to repair this a couple of times already and to feels solid but thats where the rattle seems to come from...

anyhoo, there you have it, slightly untidy workhorse, new tyres, lots of new parts, runs fine, stops fine and everything works as it should. Oh, in the video you cant tell, but the few times i stop, i am changing into 4H and 4L to demonstrate its working (at the end i reverse to get back to 2wd). 4wd served me well last winter and i used 4l for some tricky slopes, so i know its working fine.

im looking for £800 or sensible offers, despite the MOT being due, its got TAX until april, I know you guys know these cars well, and better than me, I think its a sensible asking price.

many thanks!

ok chaps, going to revive this because im putting it up for sale, spares or repairs. If it doesnt sell, then it will be partially broken for spares and th rest scrapped. Been ill this last few weeks, and then you realise the year is going by so quickly, and I just dont have the drive to get this car welded and fixed. id rather buy a new project, so, its up for sale.

I have repaired both front wings and re sprayed, although its certainly no professional job, i doubt they will rust again. New middle exhaust etc. Car battery needs charging now or replacing, just been out to start it and its dead-the battery is definately the culprit as the indication window is empty-doesnt surprise me as the battery is very old. Car was running fine before-running very well infact. Just needs the welding doing and an MOT. Remainder of tax is a couple of months.

If it doesnt sell soon, ill get it scrapped (been offered £320 locally so thats not bad). Ill remove the wheels i just bought and put the old ones back on, move the car to the front drive, and remove any parts of any use including:

no1 injector
MAF
K&N air filter
etc

i'd rather sell as a whole for £500, and its easily worth it, i paid £200 for the wheels and tyres and that was a bargain, so £500 for the whole car is worth it considering the parts i have fitted over the years-new No1 injector, CKP sensor, starter motor and associated cabling/clamps, MAF, filters, exhaust, oil, filters etc, as many of you know, its wanted for nothing.

any questions, do ask. Ill be totally flexible if you need pics or information.

many thanks

Clive
