Hi guys hope you all had a wonderful day !!

I've been given a bit of a project by my mum and dad for a surprise for Christmas a 3dr 1991 vw golf gti 8v slammed with coil overs on bbs wheels!

A real nice surprise as I've always wanted one ever since my dad had one from new in 1987.

But my dilemma is insurance as I've just bought another t2 for the missus and I also have my one which is well modded so would prefer to use the wife's t2 as the every day car and holiday car.

At the moment I've got my truck insured £600 a year & got a quote for the wife to be added on the new truck's insurance which I've been quoted £530 a year,
Oh and the wife has a provissional license.

Now I've got the golf which is 22 years old and will need insuring and at a guess will be another £500 on limited mileage etc

Is there a cheaper way ??

Any suggestions guys

hi Nik, very awesome gift indeed, I love those MK2 golfs, not many of them around! I assume its a late MK2??

anyway, id be considering:

tracked insurance
classic insurance
multicar at least
Pay as you go insurance.

have alook at them, there are options out there, especially for classic car owners, which I THINK yours is classed as Classic in terms of production not age, but i am sure you could get a classic policy.

Pay as you go is also an option, a friend had that, cost him considerably less than a normal insurance policy on a bog standard Ford Focus. They fit a box, that tells the insurance how far you have been etc, in mileage/time and you pay for that usage. worth a look. i looked once, and didnt suit me because of the mileage i do.
