View Full Version : 1998 Terrano on Bio ?
Hi I am going to run on on Bio diesel this weekend - I have been advised to run 50% Bio 50 % diesel. Run a couple of tanks through and then change the fuel filter. Am I likely to have any other problems?
I have a Terrano 1998 SE Touring with 80,000 on the clock.
I will get my Bio from a Buxtons near Stafford in the Midlands they make their own.
Any advise appreciated don't want to knacker my motor.

There are several threads regarding this subject, they should provide some interesting reading for you. As far as I'm aware and so are you from the sound of it. The Bio will strip the scale from the inside of your fuel tank and lines which will clog your fuel filter so you will need to replace the filter 3 or 4 times. I've used veggie oil mixed with diesel (SVO) in the past with no problems, in fact the engine ran quieter. There seems to have been worries about the engine oil getting diluted with the unburnt bio. Also worries about the long term possible damage to the injector pump but I'm not sure how much proof there is of this happening. As I said have a look through the previous posts.

Thanks for that jim - yeah I have read a lot of the threads - good reading.
Is there anyone out there who has used it with out trouble for some time?

I've been pay9ing £1.15 for bio in the middle of sheffield, but yesterday the van (Renault master) all but ground to a halt, I assumed it would be the filter so limped it to local auto factors and change filter which did have some fatty deposits on it (it was cold yesterday morning relatively anyway) but that was all nothing else but that didn't cure it.
After a lot of messing about and worry that it was the injector pump (which is key coded so involves a trip to a renault garage for replacement) I found the pick up pipe in the tank was blocked, blew it back with airline and ok now, need to drop tank and give it a clean out properly but it's full at the moment so will wait till its nearer empty.
It,s 99.9p a litre at Buxtons near Stafford they make it there - not sure how good it is?
