View Full Version : Hello chaps
Hello there guys, new to this forum and to Terrano ownership, the site has already been a great help. :thumb2
I bought this Terrano as a non-runner, it struggled to start or tick over, barely revved over 1500rpm and the slightest bit of effort caused it to stall. There was evidence of filter changing and MAF tampering, but surprisingly the filter in the banjo bolt was undisturbed and turned out to be the culprit... a quick clean out with some petrol and a small pick and the old girl was soon running sweetly.
It seems to be suffering from many of the common issues described on here, and a few more besides, but I'm gradually working my way through the niggly bits. Fortunately, the car is very solid underneath, and the sills, wings, inner wings, chassis, etc., are all excellent.
Anyway, I'm not into green laning like many of you chaps, the Terrano was bought primarily as a tow/winter car for the other half. However, I'm an electrician by trade and I do have a bit of experience with car electrics and diagnostics, and also the mucky bits too, so hopefully I might be of some help now and again. ;)

Welcome. Got any pics? Glad you've found this place useful. Well worth paying the extra for access to the full tech section and downloads.
Hello and welcome to the club
Nice to hear another local chap there's one or two of us about
Thanks for the welcome!
I'll have to sort a picture out, but it's a standard later shape LWB SE in Amazon Green with the silvery-gold coloured door bottoms and bumpers. Apart from a few scuffs to be dealt with later, it looks pretty good for its age.
The forum is a great mine of information, the one thing I find odd for non-members is the lack of a search facility... doesn't it cause problems with us noobs asking the same questions umpteen times? :nenau

Scratch that, I've found out why it's not a problem - I can't post at all in the Technical section, I guess until I become a club member.
I saw someone with a problem I thought I could help with, but it seems I can't yet. :(
Your limited to what you can do until you pay the £10 joining fee. And being able to post an answer is the same as being able to post a question, so it blocks you.
Its well worth the money though and it also keeps idiots out who just join club to take the "P".:(
Glad to see you a local chap too, maybe we can tempt you in to green lanes when we do the easy non modded days out. :naughty

I see there's quite a few forum members around here.
As for green laning, we live in the middle of nowhere, so I see more than enough mud without going looking for it! :lol

Welcome, oh wise one.
Welcome, oh wise one.
I'm afraid wisdom only comes with experience, and as I acknowledged in my first post, it's the wisdom of members here that helped get this truck going.
Despite the hours I've spent under cars over the years, I wouldn't have been able to go straight to the mini-filter problem, and one or two more, without reading up about it on these forums.
So which bit of notts u from if in the middle of nowhere surrounded by all the mud u need
Can we come play lol
Oop north, near the Trent and the power stations. It's pretty wet here already once you get off the made lanes, the fields are starting to turn into swamps.
What's making it difficult round here for laning are the hare and deer coursers tearing round the fields at night. Unless you can get off the 'official' routes and into the estates and around the Trent banks, the rest of it is pretty tame.

You have already proven how wise you are by your 4X4 purchase...
