This is my new play toy, no mods as of yet though.

Need to do a bit of work on here before i put her on the road though, bit of welding.

Nothing happend to the Mav, she still running strong (In fact im going to work in her in a minute) But i thought if im going to keep modding, should i be doing it to something a bit newer.

Cost me £1,500 with 80,000 on the clock and 2 owners from new. Its the top SE+ spec including CD multi changer under the drivers seat (Heated drivers seat i should say)

Got a few bits to sort out on her, including an oil leak around the transferbox i think and a bit of welding, but nothing to worry me.

Only thing im not planning to do is a body lift, due to the saggy arre on the mav, i will do a susp lift though and drop some 33's on her.

I doubt you'll get 33's under without a body lift :nenau

Body lift is much better than suspension lift anyhow

rear bumper is no biggie to sort from what i've seen

No it isn't :o
Suspension lift will get you extra travel and articulation too (esp with arb off)

Fez_uk

also the front IFS will be higher. Which will drag less.

But you lose droop if you lift the suspension ?

Body lift will allow larger tyres to articulate higher, mine hit the body on the rear on full articulation, so if i lift body 50mm it will lessen this problem ?

Also center of gravity remains less affected with body lift as the engine/transmission aren't raised, where as they are with suspension lift

Inner Sils have gone and a bit on the front cross member.

I know sometime its better the devil you know, but wanted to get something a bit better and do that, i still not sure what to do with the Mav though, do i sell or keep her for parts when needed.

Ballocks.
You can maintain droop easily by reducing or removing bump stops and or fitting ball joint spacers. Hitting the body on full articulation is a case of wheel offset to clear body or add spacers.
A +2" suspension lift will get you so much more travel about 4" before you drop the arb.
CofG agreed but big deal, with a wider track you'll compensate for that, but remember you'll have wheels in contact with the ground longer so there :p

u aint got lift of any kind tho have you? i can tell you my susp lift gave far more artic and clearance than body lift did, all body lift did was move the shell up to fit the 33's on

It'll be the bit of plastic covering the fuel pipe more like. Check it's fitted properly as my 35s don't touch it.
Also check your panhard rod's bushes

no nowt, just reset torsion bar

Not going bigger than 31's either, so perhaps a suspension lift will do

struggling to find a proper 2" lift for a lwb tho as everything seems to be for the lighter swb truck

body lift does help, both have their pros/cons. But to run 33s you will need both.

I had no problems with standard springs/+2 longer shocks on 31s

Also to remember this model runs on 16" rims not 15's like the Mav. Maybe i can goto 15s and get the 33 on ? I dont know!

Either way, i dont think its getting a body lift, so i may just goto 31s.

Im not welding the rear bumper to the baody to get the saggy arse sorted, if there is another way then maybe.

Would a 2" extra spring from bloodred and a 2" spring spacer work? giving 4" that would be the same as a body lift.

makeitfit
13-08-2012, 22:40
No 'cause you'll not be able to balance the front without spending thousands on a subframe lift etc :o
There'll only be about half an inch difference between swb and lwb ht at the back anyway.

15 or 16 wheels make no diff it's the overall tyre size that counts.
31s on either wheel is still 31 :)

Of course it is, how stupid of me. :doh

Think i will just go with a 2" lift and 31's then, if 33s wont fit.

33s will fit without body lift :thumbs
You'll need some hammer action and a little trimming here n there though :D
Well worth it to get your diff out the muck :naughty
