View Full Version : R3MR
Hello,
I've just joined the forum as I'm about to buy my first 4X4....a Nissan Terrano R3MR 2.7TDI....and I've got a sneaky feeling that I'll be needing plenty of help, advice, technical assistance and sympathy !:lol
I'm the wrong side of 50,but have never owned or driven any 4X4 in my life so I'm looking forward to the challenge of ownership and maybe some gentle off-roading/green laning.
I'm located on the border of Sheffield and the Peak District.
Cheers.

If you're going to be offroading/green lanes etc why choose a R3M :nenau
You'd be better off with a swb T2

I did warn you that I knew nothing about what I was getting into.:D
Realistically it will be used 98% for commuting and 2% for very gentle macho posturing.

Fairy snuff, mind you the R3M's hardly an eco warrior with it's fuel consumption :lol
They're auto I think and heavier than a Terrano so logic says you'll be around the very low 20s to the old gallon :augie

Oh yes :lol
Is this R3M a cheap one you've seen somewhere? Just curious mate but they will be a thirsty beast for 98% "commuting", whatever that is :D
Dont buy it, buy a terrano, or if u want a unibody offroader, get a rav 4 tbh
Oh yes :lol

Hahaha
No, older cars and classics have always been part of my life, despite their negative effect on finances.
I'm sure a cheap old 4x4 will be much of the same.
Ignore what they say....Age does not necessarily bring wisdom !:D

hey welcome, local member, we've got some great lanes close by
and members from much further afield have met up.
Dont know much about yours though we've had a few on here and
believe some of under neath is like the popular terrrano2.

Thanks for the Sheffield welcome.
Whereabouts are the "local" lanes?
Yes, I was going to ask if anyone knew about parts compatibility/interchangeability between the various models.
As is common on the R3MR, the chrome bumper corners are rusty/messy.
Do they share bumper sections with any more mainstream models?

Yes I assume that they were all originally for the Japanese domestic market.
They look like a terrano on steroids!:D

Sounds great...my end of town and suitable for a novice.
While I'm on...any tips for cheap insurance, maybe as a second vehicle?

try accademy insurance ask for stacey :-)
Welcome to the club. I use Admiral multi car insurance. Cost me £700 in total for a 520 BMW on an 06 plate and the Ford Maverick on a P reg. both fully comp with protected NCD.
We do the lanes quite a lot round this area "Sheffield and the Peaks" would be happy for you to tag along. Most good for Non damage to trucks, some a little harder on them, but we wold tell you first.

Thanks for the warm welcome.....that's very good of you to offer me a trip out.
I pick it up in a couple of weeks time (other end of the country as usual! ) and once I've got used to driving it I may take you up on that offer.
I'll give Admiral a try on the insurance...that premium sounds reasonable.:thumb2
welcome to the club, don't forget the truck is an import so premium could be high
