if you are going clay pigeon shooting then i would imagine you will be using shotguns....not air rifles....

yep, air rifles are best for stationary targets, more sniper style, for clay pigeons you need a blunderbuss :lol

the wooden end is the butt that gose in your shoulder
when you shoot keep both eyes on the target and shoot a foot infront off target as it flys past.

From your previous posts I wouldnt take the terrano your dad might shoot it.

Seriously though, is this and organised shoot or just you your dad and his mates, if its organised pay close attention to the safety brief and have fun.

If its not organised be very careful and have fun.

Two good pointers are never point the shotgun at anyone ever and only shoot when you can see sky.

@ ste68blue & plank: it probably is a shot gun then:doh as I said, I know 0.00% about guns:lol

@ Cristof123: I admire my dad, he manages to get a standard 2.7 to make smells and noises I didn't think were posable. Then when he brakes it, he Slags me off for buying a crap 4x4 and won't admit he's broke it. Just says it ain't his problem:rolleyes: we won't be towing so he shouldn't trash it.... Unless he decides to show off:rolleyes: I'm not sure if it's organised.

As above but make sure you wear ear defenders and if you walk around with the gun, keep the barrels broken or pointed at the ground.
"Dad may show off in Terrano" break your car this week before he does, as I think he will do more damage to it than you;)

You can opt for a smaller caibre of gun say 16 or 20 bore. These will do less damage to your shoulder. Clays don't come cheap so take shed loads of money. David.

Shooting, just up my street, having been a keep gun man for over 30 years.

We have a few GOLDEN RULES you may find helpful.

1. Never point the gun at anything you dont intend to kill.
2. Class all weapons as LOADED at all times.
3. If someone tells you a gun is empty, check it your self.
4. Only carry the gun "Broken"
5. Only one shooter at a time, the rest should be in slips.
6. Guns dont kill people, People kill people.

There just a few to be going on with, i would also suggest you have eye protection as well, sometimes you get a backfire or a flash. Better to be safe than sorry.

The 20 bore is easier to hit the target, there are 20 chances, compared to a 16 bore.
Pull the gun into your shoulder just before you shoot, otherwise if there is a gap, it can feel like your shoulder has been hit with a baseball bat.

Enjoy.

Eye and ear pro are a must.
Make sure your cheek is also in contact with the butt of the shotgun or you'll probably end up with a nice bruise just under your cheekbone.
Squeeze the trigger, don't yank at it and also try not to blink or flinch when you pull the trigger - easier said than done though.
Finger OFF the trigger until you're about to shoot.
Make sure whoever is getting your cartridges for you buys extra, 'cos shooting clay pigeons is fun!

Great if one of their toff wagons get stuck you can use the terrano to pull it out.

WAIT! Just dawned on me this could be a young posh totty fest so while all the boring oldies are playing with their boom sticks you can keep the ladies entertained.:thumbs
