I think I'm destined to keep this one, sold it three times now, but for one reason or another it's still sitting on my driveway. As it runs and drives perfectly, and it looks lovely, I think I'm going to give it my boy. He's 17 and the insurance is only £100 more on the Mav than a 1984 1 litre metro ! Plus I get to drive it whenever I want :sly
Looks like me and the mav are here to stay :surrender

Is this the one with the mech pump set up instead of flybywire?
Has that been the issue?
At least you can crank up the pump now for some black smoke action :naughty

How much is the insurance and who is it with, my sons 1989 Mini 1000 costs £1030 for him, fully comp in his name

Yup, it's the one with the manual pump, and the issues have been with the buyers every time, nothing to do with the car. :nenau
Insurance was £998 via compare the market, fully comp, in his own name. He hasn't passed his test yet . Didn't make any difference with me on there, and I'm pretty sure I could get it cheaper by shopping around. We're in a low insurance risk area apparently, and it's parked on the drive overnight, so that makes a difference.

Collindale is the cheapest learner driver insurance my boy's fiesta in his name etc was 880 quid :sly
Don't forget that will double when he passes :doh

Just to point out, Learner insurance is always cheaper than the normal insurance, so dont think its going to get cheaper it will get higher.
This is because as a learner he will have a qualified driver with him, when he passes his test he is on his own.

Yep, my son's passed his test and the quotes ranged from £4995 to £1030, guess which one we went with.
A lot cheaper when he was learning, so get ready for a surprise :augie

And they wonder why people dont bother getting any insurance now days.

It cos they carnt bloody afford to get any. Its time the insurance companys sorted out there shit. or the govenmaent took acction to police them.

Even Dick Turpin wore a mask:augie

If you saw the way the 17 year old Renualt Clio and Peugeot 206 drivers 'et al' around our way pilot their unmaintaned death traps then you would understand why its so expensive...

I do concede that there are a number of conscientious young drivers on the road as well.

Regards

Alan

Maybe that's why my boy got a 1275 quid policy and 11redex got quoted £4000:doh
The new black box insurance deals are coming up now though, so at least concientious kids have a chance at insuring themselves :)
