LWB Tdi 1997 145k miles, mot jan 13, tax end of march, really good condition, everything important works, little things like the front windows being slow, seat leather worn, 2 or 3 tiny bits of surface rust.
Owes me about £1400 all in, what do you lot reckon, will I get my money back ?
Might be lucky
Noticed on this site and just driving around there's alot of 4x4s for sale
So might be a flooded market

OK, as this is a members only club, funny handshakes and all that, nobody's going to know that I wouldn't object if someone who had no intention of buying the car was to put a bid on the auction, just to get things moving along. I'm crap at doing adverts, so any advice would be welcome too. Here's the ad : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220967417801#ht_602wt_1139
I wouldn't of bothered with auction, classified ad is the way to go.

positives , giving a guide what you'd like and number . everything to SELL my auctions never run full term.
hope this helps
I would delete the bit about fuel pump and oil leak doesnt sound good, wipe it underneath and plead ignorance about the pump.

yeah not really my style to tell lies.
I buy cars off ebay all the time very rarely are they anything like as described a lot of the time its due to the seller not knowing what they are selling. How many times have you seen the pics of the interior showing the back and passengers seat only to find that the drivers seat is comletely trashed!.I dout few people would realise that the pump isnt correct.Reading your description there are far to many negatives.I didnt say lie but stick to the basic facts.

What's negative ? The oil leak is the only bad point about the car. Never cared what other people do with their adverts, never thought it's ok to be economical with the truth or hide stuff. If someone buys this car off me they will have absolutely no reason to complain.

I WILL ADD PHOTOS LATER.
I need to to sell my Maverick to buy a small car for my son.
For the the MOT in January it needed new brake pipes, three track rod ends, both front ARB links, a new drag link, and a side repeater bulb. It had no advisories. this is the point i initially stopped reading the add.
It's also had new water pump, new air, fuel and cabin filters, new power steering and alternator belts. A new oil filter and 8 litres of oil is included in the sale. The front anti roll bar and one of the free wheeling hubs have been replaced with good used parts.
It's in really nice condition all round, with just a couple of very small surface rust spots and tiny marks and dents. It's been well looked after by it's 10 (!) previous owners, and certainly hasn't been abused. The tyres are very good Avon Ranger all terrain 235/75/15's with loads of tread left on them. They're not too noisy on the road and they grip well in the mud. I got it bogged down in very soft ground recently and it pulled itself out no problem. The four wheel drive works perfectly in high and low ranges, the clutch and gears all work properly, and it's got plenty of power.
Inside it's in pretty good nick. The seats are grey leather and the front ones are a bit worn with a couple of small splits. I use seat protectors so it doesn't bother me but if you are fussy you might want to have the leather reconditioned. Everything works, although the electric windows are slow, and the air con probably needs regassing. I haven't had any reason to use it and I can honestly say I have no idea if it works or not. The heater certainly chucks out some serious heat and blows nice and cold if you need if to. The screen clears quickly in the mornings, and it doesn't smell of rabbits, which is nice.
What else? It's got side steps fitted and the checker plate covers rattle at tickover. They need re-rivetting. It also has nice looking chrome A bar with holes drilled ready for spot lights. It's got a tow bar but no electrics fitted. I have a vehicle specific loom and plug to fit, if I get the time. If not you'll get it with the car. Generous ain't I.
This would usually be time for the bad bits,no i think you covered everything including the kitchen sink but there aren't any really, just one rather odd thing I should mention. It should have an electronic fuel injection pump fitted, but it's had a manual pump put on at some time. It starts, runs and drives fine. It runs on for a few seconds when you turn the ignition off because the stop solenoid on the pump isn't connected. Something else I need to find some time to rectify ! Only other negative is that it drips a tiny bit oil for a few minutes after you stop it. Can't find the leak, so I gave up looking !
Anything else you want to know just call me 07853186518. Please don't waste your time phoning with an offer unless it's realistic. And I won't reply to texts, so keep 'em.
That's it I think. Any questions just ask.

Think I done well to pick my one up for £500 :)
Think I done well to pick my one up for £500 :)
I recently 'sold' 1999 ts tdi se on ebay it was 2 owner owned by office worker absolutly mint in and out it made £780 on ebay when the 'buyer' turned up he complained the radio didnt work (though cd multichanger did) he wanted £30 off the price told him to p*** off scrapped it instead
the description seems fine to me, It's subjective.
If they turn up and it's not as described they don't have to pay for it. And that includes not pointing out obvious things.

sounds like a BIG money pit to me

why does it sound like a money pit ? Because it's got a small oil leak and the side steps rattle?

For what it's worth, go with Colins points :thumb2
Change the 10 day auction, it's pointless as you're already starting at 999
5 day auction start 99p
Loads of pics less chat
Other wise you might as well do a classified.
You need a few people interested if you want to make some bucks :naughty
be prepared to do a deal off ebay hence contact details.

Knocked it down to the very basics. My number's on there if anyone wants to look at it before bidding.

Sounds much better now just add a dozen pics so you dont get any come back on condition and remember to take seatcovers off first always amazes me how many people list a car with seat covers on:doh

NOPE, take the bit about hoping to get 1500 quid for it out :doh people will just think you want too much and wont bother bidding at all.
PICS PICS PICS as Zippy would say.
Auctions too long and too high a start price, you need people bidding regardless of how small it starts .
Auction should finish on thurs ideally, pay day.
Then time to sort collection on the weekend :sly

Yep 99p no reserve is the way to go:thumbs
I'm in agreement about telling the truth, but I also agree with CNC and MakeIt. When buying a used car, one should always, I mean ALWAYS expect something to not be right in some way, be it the radio, worn seat bolster, drip of oil etc. End of the day, its an old car, and isnt new, and its sold as such. If someone comes along, buys your car, notices the oil leak, then tough titty. Buying cars is different from buying anything else on ebay, because youre buying a complex bit of machinary, with 1000's of parts etc etc, so going into too much detail over the negatives on cars like these, is counter productive. I wouldnt buy any 4x4 and expect it to be mint, or even close to mint, unelss it was new.
Although, personally, I like an advert with penty in it, especially when the seller is wanting over a grand. I'd expect pics, lots of them, plenty of positives, such as your various new parts (nothing wrong with that, its a good thing), them tyres, its drives good etc etc, but the negs put me off. As makeitfit says, id be put off after the first sentance and move on...
Good idea re working it, but get some pics up, maybe add a bit more into the advert as you are wanting over a grand. Mention the oil leak if you want, but thats a serious scaremongerer! If its leaking, but not giving you any trouble now, then you are ok to not mention it.
best of luck fella, I hope you get what you are asking.:thumb2

Just had a quick spy on fleabay, now your listing is too short. Completed listings shows at best you'll get 1000 and I dont think yours is as good as the one that sold.
Season's gone it seems so more like 7/800 tops on ebay evidence :o
Wasn't there somone on here wanting one a few days back ;)

Work on them mate, but enquirers and buyers are quite different. Get some offers going, and remember that what ever offer one of them gives, you've already had a better offer thanks :thumbs:naughty
