Parcel2Go - a shower of shite.

Having once recommended P2Gs services, after yet another catastrophic experience with them I wish to soundly retract any recommendation and advise you to go elsewhere if you want to ship a parcel with any hope of it actually arriving.

I suspect the fault is again largely with TNT (as it has been before) but its not helped by P2Gs total inability to monitor whats going on (or not as the case may be)...

On Monday 3rd Oct a parcel was collected from us in Llandovery SA20 for next day delivery to the NEC Birmingham.

It never arrived.

After chasing on Weds 5th we were advised that it had arrived somewhere in Liverpool (?) and would be returned to your offices at Bolton, for onward delivery to the NEC on Thursday morning.

Despite a couple of calls from you rescheduling delivery from pre-10am to pre-12am, it never arrived.

On Thursday at 2.30pm we received another call to say it had not been delivered after all and was still in Bolton. An hour or so later we received another call from the same operator, saying that the parcel had in fact been delivered to the NEC but rejected and that "...the event it was destined for was over...". This was blatant rubbish since the event only started on Friday and there is no way the parcel flew from Bolton to Birmingham in such a short space of time. The recipient also confirmed that no delivery was ever attempted.

Later on Thursday the same operator rang yet again to say it would NOT be delivered to the NEC on Thursday because its was apparently "still in a container en route to Bolton" (compare and contrast with the story in the above para!). We therefore agreed that the parcel would be returned to the sending address at Llandovery.

Then on Saturday we had a call from the local TNT driver saying he had been instructed to collect a (non-existent, obviously) parcel from Llandovery SA20 for delivery to the NEC (he also left a card at the address to confirm same).

NO parcel arrived anywhere.

After chasing at 11am this morning (Monday) we were told the parcel was definitely at Bolton and would be shipped back to us at the Llandovery address on Tuesday morning.

However, our happiness was short-lived...this afternoon we received a call from a company called Comverse (in The Strand in London apparently) saying that the computer network equipment they had been expected had arrived at 11.30am today, but when unpacked, turned out to be a ladies handbag and costume jewellery - yes you've guessed it, it was OUR parcel.

I am waiting for them to confirm the exact address so that I can talk to your call centre in the morning and have the parcel collected for return here, but at this point in time, I have lost faith, both in TNTs ability to do something as simple as deliver a labelled parcel to the correct address, and in your ability to know what is going on.

Your comments would be most welcome.

I nearly used them today, but I was so confused as they seem to be "agents" for nearly all the carriers.

The reason I wanted to consider them, was I had sold an item on ebay, and misquoted the price, too cheap, but I managed to pack it well and just get in the lower band. So I was just ok with parcelforce. :augie



On a similar issue, what is the cheapest way to send a 4kg parcel to Holland?

Most couriers are useless, There is always bad stories about them all.

All parcel2go do is broker couriers a bit like insurance sites like confused.com, nothing wrong with that.

I use www.interparcel.com regularly and not had any problems, Just sent a £250 fully insured radio to denmark, was 5kg and about 29x20x25cm (length/width/height) for £22. Courier used is interparcel economy which is UPS.

With sending stuff abroad it goes by weight or metric volume weight? depending on which is the most. So usually it helps on the price not making the box too big.

I have also used UPS via interparcel a fair amount around the UK and their main price is 6.99 excluding vat. You have to go pretty big and heavy to increase that price. So it can work out very well.

I wouldn't touch Parcel farce as they are way too expensive Or those home couriers.

There is something wrong with the broking bit when they have no idea what their contracted carrier is doing. Or they tell you to ring them to find out FFS!

Hermes have been OK though, ditto the Royal Mail small parcel thing....they insure adequately as well, which many couriers won't.

Most couriers will insure adequately as they delivery alot of packages for businesses. We have never had a problem having to insure stuff of high value.

But we have had some stupid stuff happen to stuff we sent and received. Like them leaving about £2,500 worth of electronics outside a customers business overnight in snow.

Anyway I agree that the brokers probably don't do enough if a package goes missing or gets very damaged but I've never had one gone missing

I recently had a print out from TNT (Booked Via Parcel2go) which stated they had collected the parcel 2 days prior to when the customer purchased it :confused:

It's not just the courier companies that don't come up to scratch, I recently ordered three items from eBay to be posted to my daughter's hair salon in Spain. None of them arrived!
Two of the suppliers agreed to send another item, these didn't arrive either. The third supplier refused to send another item to Spain, saying that this was the fourth item to go missing en route to Spain this month.
Royal Mail or Correos (Spanish postal service)? I would guess Correos - thieving b******s!

I've just tried that www.interparcel.com lot and so far they seem easy enough to deal with. Also a third the price of Parcel Farce :lol

For big stuff I've been using Frenni Couriers, they specialise in pallets of all sizes.
For example an engine on a pallet 39 quid 48 hour door to door :thumb2

I've used Interparcel to send stuff all over the UK and to Europe without any problem.

I don't get much stuff delivered or send much any more, but when I did I found the service ok, regardless of company used. From my time in the post office, I learned that even the national postal services farm their parcel work out to any number of companies. Also learned from a courier that they get paid more for deliveries than collections, so are usually not to bothered about colections, unless they are passing the door on their normal route. In my opinion and personal experience, a lot depends on the quality of the driver rather than the company, he is the one at the coal face and if you get a good one everything goes well but a driver with a gripe is a nightmare to deal with. Sadly, there there seems to be more of the latter, that's why so many are owner/driver, nobody would employ them.:D:D:D:D

Just a little update....parcel eventually got delivered nine days ago (ten days after it was collected for next day delivery haha) to a completely spurious address in London - recipient called us and P2G arranged for TNT to collect and return to us next day (last Thursday).

Guess what.......nothing.

Now they are conducting a "depot search" which is a euphemism for "some thieving bastard has stolen it but we don't want to break the news just yet".....

I won't bore you with the enormous catalogue of emails, phone calls, online help discussions and broken promises but P2G and TNT are just the biggest showers of shite in the business.

Parcelfarce are pants :p I've tried before but they're more expensive than asking a courier to come to my house and actually deliver it the next day for half the price parcelfarce wanted to deliver it in maybe 3 to 5 days but not guaranteed and I'd have to take it myself to the ruddy post office stand in a queue of drunks trying to get the last 78p out of their account without any id only to be told eventually that the parcel is too long :doh

I used Parcel force with a business account and to be far they were spot on at collecting from across the UK and delivering back but that was mostly business to business.

I think that is the kind of business they want as most business to home is a night mare cus no one is every in at the other end.

also you need commercial invoices with the package if sent with courier, Even though if it isn't commercial (in my case).

They need 3 of them, major pain in the ass if you ask me. Look it up to confirm this.

actually Interparcels 2-5 day rates dont look too bad considering. Not bothered about doing paperwork as its commercial anyway. Any ideas how much I should charge for 3kgs of heroin and can I accept payment via Paypal?:nenau

I wouldn't even joke about shipping heroin to the USA, you know how touchy they are about European grey imports, they like to keep the home industries on top and chances are they will say your European stuff is not as good as theirs, if it doesn't have Made in the USA on it , it's crap. Besides, haven't they got a direct supply line from Afghanistan to the US? All those C47s going back and forth all the time, miserable gits use our airport (Shannon) but won't share the goodies.

I've noticed too that on the 48 hr options , the parcel often gets there the next day :clap

Glad they have been ok, only problem with them is their phone line is like premuim rates :mad:

But they do have online help via chat.

Their economy service is great £6.99 usually for a good weight and size. gets there within 24hrs usually.
