I have had 2 T2s and this was the 1st time I had to engage the 4 wheel drive , We have just returned from Belguim over the easter weekend and on the first day I had to use 4x4 mode  1st time was to help another Brit who had a BMW 324 estate (07 model) and a caravan pulled into the area where we were all told nto pitch and he tried to drive across the very soggy grass wheel spinning all the way and not only that covering the front of his caravan in the campsite -killingme- . Then he realised that he was not going to be able to reverse his caravan onto his given pitch  so being a good Brit I suggested that I use my Terrano, reluctantly he said OK eazi peazi I hardly went above tick over -dance- -groovy- . great thinks me stuff the fancy Beemer I'll stick to old faithfull the Terrano 11 (and it's 10 years old  ), give it ten minutes or so and a Dutch guy comes asking for HELP now he only gone and sunk his motorhome in the very soft mud to about 9" inches or so, so OK here we go, out comes my tow rope hooked on and into 4x4 mode again and whhhhaaaaalllaaa out it comes and only just above 1200rpm .It did this without a hiccup and all were very pleased and embarrsed the guy with the Beemers said "supose it's one reason to have a 4x4" in a rather cheesed off voice. I went away feeling rather smug -dance- -dance- -groovy- .
