At the moment I am getting about 25mpg on my Terrano 2, is this about
right, it does not seem that good to me. The dealer I bought it from said I
would get at least 30+ mpg from the Terrano. I know it is a heavy vehicle
& a 4x4 but I did expect more mpg. Also I have been advised to get diesel
tuning chip from a company called Torq Tec, has any one of you guys used
one of these, they are £400, do they work? do they increase mpg? and will
it do any damage to the engine long term? or are there any alternatives
available that do the same job, that are cheaper. Any one got any other
advice on how to get more mpg out of the Terrano?

PS Not sure if I have posted this in the right forum this is my first time.

We had a thread about a month ago regarding the MPG, might be worth having a look for it as a lot of members reported their MPG's. It really depends how you drive. Do some coasting down hills, 2nd to 4th gear, easy on the gas and I get around high twenties to thirty without any problems and a bit more on a run. I once got 29 whilst towing the caravan and AC on as it was a hot day. Also depends on the terrain your driving in, lots of hills and your using the gas a lot more.

Sorry can't help with the add on box, however remember it's a modification so inform your insurance company.

If it helps i'm getting about 26-27mpg  but as my speedo is over reading by 10% like most T2/Mavs i'm now starting to add 10% to my mpg to get the true figure which is working out at 28-29mpg around the doors which makes me feel alot better than the first figure

Hi biker, there are a few threads on mpg, I am getting 31mph on a run 26- 28 around town. I tow a small caravan and get 24-26 depending how much a hurry I am in  I am in the middle of a test with my vehicle, could you tell me whether you are using supermarket fuel or from the big name garages? There are a few owners on this forum who have power box's and they seem pleased with them. Look through and you will find some threads about them. regards......bri

Hi Wildbri,
I have been getting my diesel from Morrison's because it is convenient. Also
you get a £5 voucher to spend in-store. And also a 3p litre cheaper than all
the other local garages.

That sounds a good deal, but if you find my other threads you will know why I am asking.....bri

After reading yours & other threads with interest, I'm still very sceptical that
supermarket fuel is not to the same quality as B.P, Shell & other retailers.
I always thought that the fuel came from the same refineries & distributed
to what fuel station placed the relevant order irrespective of what franchise
it was for (name above the garage). I think I will do a experiment, the next
time I fill up, I will use the local B.P garage and see if there is a
improvement or not. Also, is there any one out there who can give me first
hand advice in using or getting one of these power box things to improve
M.P.G
Thanks
Phil
