so, just curious about this.

if a person was to paint their white van black, using a brush and shitty paint, would they have to inform the dvla of such a change, i mean legally?

im sure jo public wouldn't know if the paper work has been changed.

more to do with police. if it was nicked theyd be looking for a car of the wrong colour...

Another prob is if Mr Plod has a look on his in car computer and sees that your car is a different colour to the details he will pull you over.Especially if you are driving a fancy BMW !:o

I'm sure you know what BarryBoys do? Well whenever they spot a 'Barry'd' car thats got an obvious engine upgrade or anything else for that matter, they do a DVLA check and report any discrepancies before starting a picture thread to rip the piss.

You can see why they are so popular. :doh

well, i can check easily enough what the original colour of a car can be via the tax disc site, im basically building up some ammo against a person who threatened me a while back (for no good reason i might add) and i think hes a bit dodgy.

OK , as a Bobby its already been highlighted that my interest would be purely ensuring the vehicle is what it should be.. i.e. not a ringer. I'd have to be very bored to go down the line of pursuing any issues over the correct colour being on the log book, and I can see the judge rolling his eyes already. It would perhaphs be more proportionate if part of a string of offences a person was being dealt with for - but not as a point scoring exercise.

To be honest, given the reasons outlined I'd say its not worth the lost sleep and to let it go... give folk enough rope and they generally do the honourable thing. :thumb2

wise words, ill do just that (let it go) but ill keep my eye on him anyway, as we are due our 6 monthly visit for some harrassment.

to a point, yes. I agree, I cant see how a colour change would lead to any kind of positive action but as a small piece in a big jigsaw it could just be of interest and the straw that breaks the camels back if the interested party arent given the chance to evaluate whats out there its of no use, if theyre given the chance, it could be :thumb2
