:eek:If you drive an xtrail check your speedo mine reads 30 when it is doing 33 (verified by A speed info camera and A tom tom sat nav ) so dont do your 10% allowed cos the speedo is already doing it , I also wonder as to if the fuel consumption figures are out , pi%*ed me off cos I claim mileage for work ":doh"

thats unusual, most cars usually add a bit on, my mav adds on 10% ! (says 77 its doing 70) my dads trooper is nearly as bad, most cars i have had add on

I know the tom tom is right cos have been using it with different cars most of which as you say come up with 27 or 28 on t/t when showing 30 on speedo

That needs fixing, apart the obvious when the cameras are out playing, you are only allowed to have a speedo over reading, not under reading.

Obviously itll never be detected under normal circumstances unless your vehicle gets examined for any reason :thumb2

Don't know if its common in xtrails to under read speed but its definately common in Terranos and other motors to over read. So when the speedo reads 33mph the actual speed would be more like 30. Under reading may be illegal. 96terrano suggestion may be worth looking at.

mine deffo reads 10% too high, says 70 on speedo and 62/3 on sat nav :eek: still helps with the fuel consumption as I think I am doing 70 !!!!

70 seems about same on sat nav as on speedo , it seems to be in lower range ( where its gonna get me nicked :( that it goes t*t's up still even with speedo reading low doing high 30+ mpg :D

ACPO guidance is if drivers speed is equal to or less than speed limit+10%+2mph then no prosecution should be brought.

So that means I take it that as long as I keep to 30ish:augie shouldnt be A problem doesnt bother me too much nore concerned if it was A trait that others should be aware of , had A very nice man flash his blue lights at me the other day so I take it was not happy with me doing +10%;)

thats the theory.

But I can't imagine the police bothering to flash someone doing 2-3 mph over the limit.....sure its as little as that?

I guess he followed me for about 2 miles in which I could possibly have let it slide A little:o over the 30 mark on my speedo but then I did indicate and turn left very quicklyin front of him :sly didnt realise he was who he was & just thought it was someone being very silly sitting too close :doh

Just be aware that is guidance only not statutory and some stick on at limit +10%

Always been a bone of contention that one.

Have been Oh so careful since :augie only use sat nav for speed so that keeps me at about 27ish on speedo will prob stop using it once get used to not doing full 30 still coming out with 37/40 to gallon and doing about 300 to 600 miles A week :D
