Hello there folks, I've just bought a 2.o. petrol Maverick 1993 & think it's great, just spending money getting it straight but the owners manual is missing & I can't find one anywhere, even ford don't have one, did they only build 6 of these or what? Does any one know where I might find one? Or could someone tell me how the mysterious 4 wheel drive works? My other interests are walking the dog to the pub, I don't really like going in but she insists. All the best, Jim.:clap

ive got the original manual for the early 90's maverick, I htink it covers both diesel and the 2.4 petrol, but ill check, but you cant have it lol. anyway, my point is this, the manuals are available to buy on ebay, at least they were last i checked....If I can check anything for you from the manual, let me know.

Welcome to the club mate, in terms of how the 4 wheel drive works, have you checked the sunvisor? If its anything like my Terrano you will have instruction on there :)

Simply put (again if its the same as my Terrano) you pull the second gear stick back once for 4WDH and then push it down and back again for neutral then further back for 4WDL. Someone will correct me if I am wrong I am sure :)

Sorry, meant 2003, not 1993 (only 10 years out. I wish I was. I'd only be 97 then.)

Yes, that's the one, it seems the 4 wheel drive kicks in when the front wheels start to slip, but can it just be locked on via the button the dash when you want, and when is it safe to it like this & does the vehicle have to be stationary when it's selected? If any one has the handbook in the west lancs area, I'd love to come & copy it (just like James Bond.) :thumb2

Hi Jim been digging around the net and found this.. www.fleet.ford.comclick on the maintenance tab, click owners manuals, enter 2003 ford escape, you'll get a full pdf version of the escape owners manual, which should be the same as your maverick, Escapes were the american versions, hope this helps:thumbs
