I saw this on another site. I said hubs.. you let recon im right or wrong then??

Hi Guys.

Been a while since I've been on the forum. Changed cars since and let the Range Rover go. Replaced it with a 94 Ford maverick after the snow we had.

Great truck, but an issue has arrisen.

Any speed after 35mph results in what can only be described as a tank slapper. (biker speak, lol) It feels like the steering wants to rip it's self from your hands.

The Steering Idler arm was replaced for the MOT in November. I've replaced the drop links since this little issue arose last weekend. This has dropped the speed that it happens from (Speed was 55mph plus).

I've had it on the ramps. Nothing appears to have come adrift or be worn.

Drivers side wheel when viewed from the front appears to kick out at the bottom.

I've hit nothing with it. Whilst leaving my yard last monday, I heard a metalic bang come from the front drivers side wheel area. I got out, checked under her but could only see the drop link with no rubber (The reason i assumed this was the issue)

I'm going to swap both front wheels out and take for the tracking. Does anybody have any clues what could have caused this before i throw more money at it. (Ate the fan belts the week before).

Cheers in advance.

Rob

oh dear! ive just sent my mate to get his wheels balanced in his new 2.4 :~

When you say hubs, do you mean the free wheel hubs? if so what would cause the wobble? if they just need a damn good flush out and oil? or if they are shot to bits!?

Sorry to hijack the thread a little :) and i'm prob posting in the wrong bit!

Many thaks
