I was planning a little pootle up Strata this weekend after the missus gets back from Oman, but just checked the forecast.....heavy rain starting later today, right through til Monday at least, with high winds for the duration, gusting up to 60mph.

Great.:doh

But it was slightly painful....Mr DIY here trying to install a heavy chandelier on to a 300 year-old lath and plaster ceiling without bringing the house down, and yer man just stands here and watches...end to end.:doh

It was probably my rippling six-pack though......:augie

Funny you should ask, cos his 'friend' came in this morning looking at expensive lamps....still, at least he can chuck 'em in the boot!!:thumbs

Whoa!!!!

It came as gale-force winds hit vast parts of the country, with gusts of up to 90mph blowing down trees and tearing roofs from buildings in Scotland.

In exposed mountain areas, wind speeds broke 115mph. The Met Office said its calculator at the top of the Cairngorms, which shuts down at this speed, went out of action for four hours.
