Just been pointed to this on another forum.

Pity it doesn't have a bigger capacity but a bargain none the less!

Might go down and have a look at them, but at 1.5L you couldn't even do the diff in one go, commercial tyes are much bigger typically, as stated above, 7 litre

no reason why if you buy one you dont change the tank for bigger one? might take fair few pumps to get enough vacuam on big garden sprayer type tank!

I presume that this is meant for filling diffs, as I find the easiest way to drain them is to take the drain plug out???

I use a length of hose & a funnel to replace diff & gearbox oils, hose into filler, run it out & raise it up, funnel on end, oil in. OK, slow to run in, but I'm sure in terms of physical effort easier than that pump? I even had a cup of coffee while filling my gearbox at the weekend using this method.

Good point Jonathan, but I think this is for draining, many diffs and gearboxes don't have drains these days (or for quite some time actually).

Right, so that really bolloxs up home maintenance then doesn't it?

Not really gearbox oil on many cars is basically a fit and forget item. Ford deleted the drain plug on some of their gearboxes as far back as the Mk1 escort (1968) even then they reckoned the oil was good for 60-100k, with fully synthetic oil probably 2-3 times that now - its just 4x4s that have short intervals on it.

On my Jeep XJ the only way to drain the diff oil is to split the cover off. Oil still needs to be changed at intervals due to wear degredation and if it gets water contamination then even more frequently.

OK a 1.5l bottle is not huge but it isn't rocket science to just refill it occasionally? I'll be getting one as it looks easier to use than my current giant syringe type
