ok we have all been discussig veg oil boi etc. what if we have a rally round and build our own bio diesel mking machine thingy, i've seen the plans on ebay for sale, i'm sur we can find the plans for free, between us we have welders and mechanics and people that know the stuff them scientists boffins know and i'm sure between us we can collect more than enough waste veg oil to process into bio diesel, all we would have to do is decide which one of us is the most central to all of us for a place to build it, i would happily have it at mine but i dont think i'm most central, anyway the idea is out there, feedback etc. is now needed, you never know we could all be running our trucks for next to nowt :thumb2:D:clap

trouble is, where to keep it, and who does all the work?

you might end up having to pay tax as well, on the fuel made

seems a good idea, but it wont work, who would want to travel, for instance 30 miles to fill up, then there's the collection of waste oil and delivering it to the central member, could be a lot of running around, and may be cheaper to just buy it from pump, :nenau

the more interesting item would be to buy/get the plans for small units that would be cheap for the individual to own

if their are the members that can build them for those that cant for cost

as this would stop the need for travel

what you could do is have a list of interested members which they all put a kitty together for the cost of building x amount of units then you would get the parts cheaper as you will be ordering more than one at a time

but then you will have to have a few members that can do the work and you would need to find out the time it takes to make said unit

but it is a good idea

but it can take a fair amount of time for the one person to make enough bio for the members to fill the car up and they would need a large storage area if their was 10 members as that would be 800 ltrs for all to have a full tank every month

probably cheaper to use svo.

I think its a good idea of you can find enough local people to share the burden. :thumb2

I only see two potential drawbacks; first one is the usage limit which I think is same as SVO - 2500 ltrs a year for personal use. Not sure how HMRC might apply that to a co-operative setup.

Second one is there is an increasing tendency towards companies buying and collecting WVO and potentially getting the edge on you.....I notice that even Stagecoach has recently made a commitment to production and use of bio-diesel from WVO and it won't be long before others get in on the act I reckon.

But ignore me, I'm just a merchant of Doom LMBO!:sly

been thinking about this the last couple of weeks making a bio unit is very simple iv got most of the things required laying around the biggest problem is getting a regular supply of wvo there is aplace near me selling it for 47ppl the methanol seems to be the biggest single expense iv tried a few places with no luck at all. if i could get all the ingredience i mite be tempted just to have ago first things first got to get me new shed built :doh so i can put it all some where

Haven't checked but I've bought acetone (for my diesel tank) delivered in bulk from eBay so can't imagine methanol is any harder to source?

well it seems the same place that sells the wvo also sells methanol and every other chemical needed they make there own for there own use but dont sell it on because they have to add vat and fuel duty so not worth it they said :thumbs looks like i mite be going into the oil business if its a regular supply

Thats a bit insulting not to mention derogatory to the variety and quality of info thats been discussed on here :mad:

And Ive partially based that on thecertain contributors on there told me T2's wouldnt run on svo.

NEVER EVER accept one source of info as definitive.

Just ask Hitlers followers.
