i have a friend who has one and i get to see a lot of it, it's amazing what it can do fomr not a very big engine, and of course portal hubs mean massive ground clearance :thumb2

down side, not much use for everyday transport and allways fixing it :nenau

I think the reliability is age related, old things go wrong more often (generaly speaking) but with alll the hydraulics and unusual parts it can be a bit of a pain. He has his own mobile mechanic in a fully equipped sprinter on call 24/7 for his repairs, so cost is not an problem and he does give it some stick!

I would only consider it if you can easily afford it as otherwise you might be buying a 'hole in your pocket' spend your money one somthing more practical.

It is very tempting though :naughty

Would you leave or remove the hydraulics

The only thing that is going for me is I've talked to me boss about it & he would go 1/2's on :naughty

But I've still gotta find a fair bit of dosh

I supose it depends what you want to use ot for, and waht stuff is powered hydraulicaly. If they work i'd leave them put in the hope of finding another monster winch. Or being able to use it for other stuff, you could put it to work, if you found some equipment for it :thumb2

Well the ideas I've got for me is before restoring it, go to me 2 local Pay'n'Play sites :naughty
Then give it some TLC & sell it on at profit
Or
I suppose i could locate another winch, hedge cutter & chipper & hire it out

(RIP) PLANK

could be a goldmine, or a money pit, the only way to find out is to take a chance i suppose :nenau

How much is he asking for it ? which engine is it ?

is it taxed and mot'd. ?
what is it registered as agricultural or lorry ?

location i could poss get you 2 weeks storage near brighton . but any more would get a grumpy old bloke kicking off .

the biggest problem i can see , is if its not on the road. just getting it recovered to where ever your planning is going to cost big bucks.

then mot, at some point, and if its agricultural vehicle . could prove a pain to drive any distance on the road ...

lots to consider, but given i have space , the right mot place just down the road from the farm in sussex . and having use of post to the farm . id be interested . BUT is it viable for you . god knows

phft
Can't see the point , sorry mate :o
I know it's an ultra capable bit of kit, but where's the challenge then?:nenau
If you had a business like an offroad center and needed a recovery truck ,\then maybe:rolleyes:
I very much doubt there'll be any money in it after kitting it out with chippers and that for hire:doh
Leave it

Go for it!!!

Always wanted one of them :)

Ive got an 8ton hydraulic boughton winch for it as well and i'm only 2mins from it :):):)

A guy near here has one and made a hydraulic trailer that picks up skips! nice little side line Adz :) if you have some where to store the skips.

I may be able to sort transport but if not try the old vintage lorry/ex-military clubs, my mate used to belong to a few and they love an excuse to get the lorry out and do some recovery :)

Let your boss buy it, and when he's spent too much on it, buy it cheap:lol

i can see...... well no i cant to be honest 4k na.
if it was a massey or something small and transportable old tractors are very collectable

but this is not small , transportable, nor a collectable tractor.
its an old unimog that will need work and tyres and many other things.
you dont have a barn big enuf for it to work on it . and getting one will add to the expense

ok as an agri vehicle its limited mileage from the place its regd at and all road use even tractors duty is due on fuel . you can change reg easy we did it with a racing quad to get it road legal . (big money spinner) dont let on though lol
but reged as a lorry or even plg. what good is it as a toy. none running it to anywhere you might find a challenge for it you cant afford :o:o

i just dont see it

ok you could make it into something that might earn money, but then your investment is in making it pay for itself . not playing on a pay n play site as breakages wont help the budget.

if you had a farm to play on or a site or a use for such a thing then 4k maybe ....... but you dont
