I want to start a "Ban EBay listings" protest. Why? sit down and will explain! :sly

You see the advert, "For sale (Whatever your looking for)" with No Reserve and No buy it now price and its starting at 99p.:naughty

You read this listing, all sounds good, just what your looking for and at 99p opening bid, sounds great. Then you get to the "I reserve the right to remove this as it is advertised else where" clause.

What this really is, is a sellers way of cheap listings because they have not put a reserve price and as there is no buy it now its even cheaper for the advert, as ebay think it will get sold and get commision.

When you put a buy it now or a reserve price ebay charge you more for the listing as i may not sell.:augie

Why should it bother you, lets say you see two items to bid on, but you dont want both, the 2nd item looks better but ends 2 days after the first one. You decide to bid on that one, the first one gets sold (not to you cos you did not bid) so your money is on the second one! you keep an eye on the bidding and your ahead, its at £10 and your max bid was £30 so you got £20 still to play with! YOUR WINNING, Its going to be yours........................ Right up to this.......... THIS ITEM HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM LISTING, DO NOT BID.

This is the seller cancelling the auction as its not made enough money and he dont want to sell it for £10, but he has escaped the large fee of the reserve sale price and the buy it now fee. So they stopped you getting either item!

A couple of days later the same item will go back up for sale with this statment.
"Re-listed due to non paying bidder" What it should say is "Re-listed cos i wanted more money for it."

If you see an add with "I reserve the right to remove as advertised else where" send them a message and ask them how much they have it advertised for and why is there no buy it now on the listing, as they know what they want to sell it for.

I bet they dont reply very offten.:nenau

I htink it's all just part of the world of auctions, they have allways had an air of mystery and been viewed as a little bit underhand and seedy. That's just the way it is, no guarantees that you will win. An of course outsode of ebay no guarantees on the item you win.

I like auctions but you have to take toe rough with the smooth, weight things up and bid acordingly :thumb2

Ebay is full of sh1t procedures but you cant really do awt about.
Just learn the system and play it yourself, it's the only way.
As for "I reserve the right" borrox, they dont and cant, simples.
You could report them to ebay if you're that bothered and they'll remove it for you. It's against ebay rules:eek: but so what?:nenau
YOU need to be smarter than the average bear on fleabay:D

but you do have the right to just remove it within the rules! Auctions allways have an element of risk.

I ordered a sticker for my 6 year old, £1.75 with free postage!

today I received it - no stamp on the envelope - cost me £1.32 and i had to drive to the sorting office to collect it! :doh

Yes but not because of the phrase "I reserve the right " blah blah. That is not allowed, but as I said who cares but ebay:o
Technically ebay can and do remove auctions with that excuse on them:rolleyes:
Play the system, get your mates to bid, pull it before the end if bids too low, make some money on the post etc etc :naughty

I agree play the system. Buyers tend to win just to not loose and pay over the odds, I've done it plenty of times. Sometimes just waiting for the item to arrive is more fun than the item.

But ebay is going downhill fast in my opinion and theres nothing we can do. I have been using it for over 5 years.

They know it's more important to keep buyers happy, Rather than the sellers. In terms of wonga.

Well ebay made it easier to shill bid when they hid the bidders. A few years back you could look through the other people bidding and work out yourself if something was up by checking bid histories.
It's in ebays favour to have shill bidding going on as they earn more dosh:sly
If you do bid on your own stuff you do deserve the idiot award of the day:doh
Spread it round a bit innit:naughty

i play ebay all the time, done everything that's been mentioned, why not their all at it, if i put something on for a rock bottom price, i'll leave it till a couple of days to go,and if no bids, i get a mate to put a bid to cover my price, if he wins it we agree to cancel transaction, :augie

waht annoys me is - as a seller you can't leave bad feed back anymore. SO some fool can win your stuff and let you down and there is nothing you can do about it.:nenau

As a buyer that is briliant you can mess sellers around all day

The only real way to get ebay on your side is to involve el plod:rolleyes:
If she has relisted the items you won and paid for then it's theft. She's selling your goods without your permission.Various breach of contract etc.
I've done it and it works, although it's a time consuming pain in the arris:doh
You may need to raise a small claims court action if they dont respond quick sharp. Ebay does have an onboard police dept, so you dont need the services of real undercover police :augie
Mind you they'd be better employed helping you than having a holiday with some green types :nenau

You could always do what iv done, with street view its even better.
Order 2 tons of concreat and have it dropped on her driveway, tell them no one will be in and to just drop it there, you will have to pay for it, but she never going to get it moved before it goes off.

I did not do it with concreat though, i found a load of pizza shops and take aways in their area and booked a delivery every 1/2 hour from 22.00 till about 3 am.

A mate of mine ended up working with "Pizza man" and was sat listning to one of his conversation one day when he started talking about it. My mate told him it was me that did it with tears running down his face.

As for Ebay, i now ask them the price to buy it now, i no longer bid for stuff if i can help it. i have had friend "Bid up" some thing for me that im selling, but only till it hits its reserve price, i sould just start the auction at that price and save the hassel.
