£1.37 per litre, for diesel at my local ESSO.......ONE POUND THIRTY SEVEN.
SPEECHLESS.
Yeah, pretty much the same thing going on around my neck of the woods as well. I have driven today because of snow yesterday, but I am going to be dusting off the pushbike to start cycling the 10 mile round trip to work tomorrow.
You win Mr Cameron, I give up!
Regards
Alan

Problem we had was only 5 company vehicles and about 10 employees buying diesel so it didnt add up when the accountant looked into it.

tesco's change their price at will, one near me, puts the price up Friday's evening's @ 7o/clock
my mate knows a tesco's tanker driver and he asked him if he gets any derv, yes but i wont put it in my car he said, it's re-gassed, make of that what you will, but my brother in law has always said he gets less mile to £20 using tesco petrol than other makes, anyone had similar experiences??. :naughty

interesting derv/petrol with micro air bubbles? means for every ltr delivered at the pump you actually get in real fuel a little less, is this possible??, worth investigating, Rick
think i a going to be using my bookers catering card this year :lol:lol

yup, so i dont go to tescos any more unless im burning fumes and they are the closest. i avoid Sainsburys, my only two are Shell and Total and BP down the road but they are always more expensive. I get best mileage from shell.

137p per litre thats £6.26 per gallon for us oldies !
I try to use BP or Shell even though its a few pence more reason is simple my Brother in law broke down in his three month old Nissan Nevara thingy - fuel was like mush due to low temeratures - had to have new fuel pump fitted and dealer tried to make him pay for a new pump. Turns out he bought most of his fuel from a local Spot Fuel Station.
With a good brand you have a better chance of consistent fuel quality and all the required additatives. Supermakets and some independants buy cheapest fuel availiable - bit like some pub chains such as Witherspoons methinks buying beer that old stock etc ?

I also avoid Tesco, Sansburys and Morrison for derv and only try to use Shell... get about 2/3 mpg more from the shell stuff !!! Used to be the same with petrol in the old car, cheaper to fill up but less to the tank full
Shell is the best forecourt station :thumbs Ask any Jap Performance Car owner :thumbs
Then BP & Esso
:thumbs
The supermarket stations have always had dark clouds over there heads with excessive water in diesel & poor quality petrol

odd as i seem to get less when i go to shell for normal diesel:nenau
that info came straight from a tesco tanker driver, and my transit definitely runs better on BP/shell fuel. i suppose some vehicles could respond differently to various fuels. :thumb2
While were on the subject, my local Esso does that uprated Diesel stuff thats about 2-3p a litre more but they claim its better to the gallon and better for your engine, is this the case and is it worth spending the extra 2-3p a litre on already expensive fuel?

I think that either way you look at it it's wrong!
either they are ripping us off and it's not better!
or they are ripping us off by selling us crap fuel and then charging us extra for the stuff we should be getting anyway

Said it before Terry; they add a lot more biodiesel to the mix over there (upwards of 30% in some cases)....my engine always runs a lot quieter and sweeter and I've had 36mpg before now, which with my driving style is gobsmacking - no way could I ever get that in the UK.
But then they've been using bio for much longer on the continent cos they have huge maize and other crops that we don't have in the UK. I'm sure its down to just more than the bio but since the oil companies keep their cards so close to their chests how will we ever know:confused:
Oh and their diesel is cheaper than unleaded :doh
But if they can do it....:nenau

surely a gallons a gallon and weights measures or hmrc (her majs robbin c*nts) would be all over them and taking big wedge of a fine of em so dc and co could shift balme onto some one else!
We should be conserving more fuel.
Remove all the junk from the car.
Remove roof racks as they cause drag.
Anticipate by looking ahead more, don't drive on just the brake lights of the car in front. We are higher than most so can see ahead.:thumb2
Less use of the brakes, take your foot off the gas sooner.
Correct tyre pressures.
Combine journeys, do a round Robin with several tasks on one trip.
Be in the right gear.
Don't over accelerate.... :lol :lol
Keep the top speed down, our trucks consume a lot more fuel at speeds greater than 60 mph
Avoid peak periods, queues/delays consume fuel.
Buy the cheapest fuel locally.
Service the car regularly, oil filters, sticking brakes.
And most of all, Allow enough time for the journey. Being in a hurry uses much more fuel.
Driving at 60 mph on a 50 mile motorway journey will only take a few minutes longer than trying to drive at 80 mph, where you can consume 20% more fuel.
Less stress as well. :thumb2 :thumb2

Ps, if they catch you running on RED "Cherry" Diesel they take the car off you now and crush it. i used to run my Mondao on it all the time, but i would not risk it now as they going to start spot checking Diesel cars and truck as the price gets higher.

I always fill mine up when i get off the ferry over there and fill it back up before getting on to come home, definetly notice the difference.
Just had a thought..........
Do you take you wife/Girlfriends out for a drink ?
Beer is £2.80 a pint around me, 8 pints to a gallon = £22.44 per gallon AND YOU PAY IT :doh Now i can drink a gallon and do about 1 mile to get me home.
Flip the coin over Diesel is 73p per pint , buy it 8 pints and the truck will do about 30 miles and were moaning.
Now, who do you love more, your wife/girlfriend or your Truck :lol
(Im now in hiding, incase the girlfriend ask you)
I always fill mine up when i get off the ferry over there and fill it back up before getting on to come home, definetly notice the difference.
British trucks (HGV) used to run with 2 fuel tanks on the continent, But they got busted as when they cross the boarders now, if they have twins on they have to have hazpac if not they get the tuck impounded.
Now look at the size of the fuel tanks on continental lorrys that come over here, they never use UK fuel, dont pay UK road Tax and dont stick to UK (European) Tacho laws, no wonder were Foobard is it.

I took the Micra to France last week to keep fuel costs down - costs me £500 to get the Terrano there and back these days....and while diesel in France is still cheaper than the UK (around 1.29 euros or less) unleaded is on a par...about 1.59 euros on the autoroute....but got introduced this time to something called E10. Its a 95RON unleaded fuel but with 10% bio-ethanol added and its typically 12-15c cheaper than straight unleaded...seems to perform just as well as standard fuel so be interested if it makes it over here....somehow I bet it doesn't!:doh

British people do demonstrate, look at the students, and the EDL, and all the various 'anti - racist' movements. Maybe we either don't care about fuel costs enough, or it is just low down the list of priorities :(

Maybe it will cost us too much in fuel to go down to London and protest :lol :lol :lol
Maybe that's the idea. :doh
Only allow rich people to use the motorways and main roads, the roads will be clearer then.
They won't have to spend so much on new roads and repairs.

Interesting...its an 80-litre tank and on all four Terranos I've owned I've only managed about 65 litres when the fuel lights has come on, so your needle must have been well down? :)
