An interesting article in the current 4x4 mag. LR's do well in most tests but in the one where its bare knuckle basics, what its all about they pitch a defender in against a Wrangler.
Both score an equal 8/10 off road. Lr 5/10 on road and wrangler 7/10, decisive winner JEEP :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap
When summing up they basically say the jeep has what the defender can only dream of.
In the other tests the Pathfinder does unsurprisingly badly but the Navarra wins the pick up class :thumb2

what tests does the pathy do badly in.
shame for brand as a good suv, maybe not extreme mud plugger.
always thought there would be loads of these getting modded
along with the nav sharing so many parts as suposedly world
cars too.
would have one in fleet, but have to find a 4.0 v6 petrol version
pretty rare as deleted quickly after release here, unless brought
a US version in.

The test was a summary of their thoughts over the year with a "practical" head to head at Parkwood 4x4 centre nr Leeds. looking at the photos and their description of the place its 100 acres and has everything from bumpy gravel axle deep mud. Could be tempted to pay a visit at some stage.
I had a pathfinder for a few weeks (one of the newest style) last spring and I have to be blunt, it was crap. It was on my list of next to buy but was cut completely. I didnt take it off road (couple of bumpy tracks) .
The ride was rough. The engine was inflexible and uneconomical. The gearbox was the piece de resistance of a bad package. It hunted and changed gear without any driver input. Couple with the trucks bad handling meant you could find the gearbox looking for a new cog mid bend giving a bit of a wobble!!!!!! if you decided to go for it manually the flick switch type thingy has a delay on it
First day I had it we did a trip 4 up (adults) the two in the back were "uncomfortable" to politely summarise their comments.
On that trip I tried to boot it uphill up a dual cariageway away from a roundabout that the jeep eats without burping. I failed badly.
Having said all of that the reverse camera was great and the car was a nice colour :D:D
Honestly it was an awful car. Theres no way it can match a T2 or Troll.
I was delighted to get my jeep back :clap
In the mag they slag off the looks.
ps , forget the praise about the reverse camera I installed one at least as good in the jeep for £50 :naughty:naughty:naughty:naughty:naughty

Six different classes and whatever they could get their hands on to test (20 in total). The only criteria other than 4wd was it must be a real one with low ratio available and stock.
how did the little niva get on then ?
