Over the last few weeks I keep dropping the connection to this website. Doesn't do it to any other sites, only this one ;O(
Only way to get back is to re-start my computer.
Any ideas?
Brian
........ at least twice a day. Usually in mornings.

Who's your ISP? I recall Bat saying there was a problem with one of them, can't remember which one though.....

Glad I am not the only one I have been putting it down to Cookies and other rubbish that needs deleting, just done a drfrag and deleted all the old crud and it is back to old speed, but some things are sill not right each page does not fully load for one, but I have to say this happens on other sites as well so I guess it has to be my connection or machine, sometimes these things seem to cure themselves so may be it is Orange, I am on a dongle by the way with an external arial and have a full strength signal, Rick

I've had probs too but was pretty sure it was those plums at orange:o
Rang them loads of times and each time it's DNS eror. You can get a secondary IP address thing to put in that sorts it:thumbs
I'll see if I can lift it and paste it here:)
Since moving server many months ago a few ISPs seem to have their DNS records screwed up. Despite numerous attempts to get THEM to resolve this, the problem clearly still exists.
To resolve this if you carry out the following all will be fine :thumb2
For Windows 2000 or XP users:-
Using windows explorer (not internet explorer) find the Hosts file which is located in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc directory.
Right click this file and then left click on properties.
Near the bottom in the Attributes section, make sure the Read-only box is un-ticked. If it is ticked, remove the tick and click OK.
Now double click the Hosts file and open with Notepad. Go to the bottom of the text and add the line:-
65.38.186.188 (then press the Tab key) www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com
Now save and close this file.
If this file was originally read only, follow the steps above to put the tick back in the correct box.
Now reboot your PC and all should work :thumbs
For windows Vista users:-
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories
Right click "Notepad" and select "Run as administrator"
Click "Continue" on the UAC prompt
Click File -> Open
Browse to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc"
Change the file filter drop down box from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*.*)"
Select "hosts" and click "Open"
Go to the bottom of the text and add the line:-
65.38.186.188 (then press the Tab key) www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com
Now save and close this file.
Now reboot your PC and all will be fine :thumb2

What about Windows 7?
What about Windows 7?
same issue, as the problem is with the ISP. one other thing you can try is to add some different DNS ip's to your settings on the network card.

Some folk just freeze with horror at the thought doing 'geeky things' with PC's.
Well done :thumb2
