Driving home in the dark tonight through the back lanes some idiot driving to fast round a corner came on to my side of the road making me swerve in to hedges and hit side mirror on tree branches, this is now left my side mirror hanging off it is wobbly but still attached.
Can someone please tell me can I easy fix it or will I have to ask Father Christmas (hubby) for a new one.And no I did not get his reg he just carried on at some stupid speed ignorant of what he had done.
Hi there are several types, with or without electric control, black plastic, or body colour, or chrome backed.
If you need a replacement, I guess there are several members breaking vehicles at the moment.
It depends if yours can be repaired with a bit of glue.
A new one is very expensive my driver's off side all electric cost nearly £200
when a white transit truck came too fast around a corner on the wrong side of the road... He of course drove off..
This happened a few years ago before I joined this site.
Hope you can sort it,
best regards,
Rustic

hi sorry to read you met a tree.
anyway there used to be a repair one of the lads from the old site recommended.
he used a bolt which he drilled the centre out off so as to run the electric cable through.
so there is away but cannot recall it in detail.

My nearside mirror is stuck on with arodite as I'd only replaced it 2 weeks before white van man hit it.

Mine was beyond araldite, it was a brush and pan job, the motors were left in 1/3 of the housing which was still attached, it left scratches on the driver's window as well and boy the noise it made hitting the side window. I was lucky the window didn't break or worse I could have had the window open and had the mirror in my neck and face.:doh
I kept the motors just in case the others fail.:nenau
Why is it more often White Van Man?
I guess there are more of them...:nenau

I've got a mirror assembly but can't remember if its L or R...I'll look at the weekend and let you know....
Knocked my driver's side mirror off about 8 months ago. I used two part epoxy from Halfords, hasn't moved an inch but I can't adjust it or pull it in when parking. Still, it saved me a few quid and I will replace it when I can find one over here.
