View Full Version : Cleaning a steering wheel
my steering wheel is weird. dependent upon temperature (outside it seems) the steering wheel can sometimes be sticky, an not nice to touch!
the top half is a bit poor, not falling apart but marked from having one of those steering knob jobby things on it. anyway, how do i clean it up, so its at least not sticky??

Having a Knob on your steering wheel .... I can now see the cause of the problem  ( I was going to suggest Kle***x):naughty
I have used meths before and then wipe over with a dilute washing up liquid with a damp cloth.
Check a small patch first, you don't want to soften the plastc, assuming it is plastic.
Do not reach for the paint thinners, or it may melt..
Or buy a steering wheel cover, did that for the Wife's Picasso as the wheel softened, I think due to hand lotion.......... My wifes, not mine...

Eeeeuuuwwww!! Grossville!!
Its interesting though to see the effect of stuff like makeup, that can dissolve your plasics forever....what does it do to a womans face for goodness sake??
I stopped using those plug-in air fresheners ages ago after I left one laying on its side on top of the fridge for ten minutes....it leaked and stripped the paint down to bare metal in that time!!:eek::eek: ...and you sit breathing that shite into your lungs....no ta!
I'd go for a standard kitchen cleaner to degrease, then washing up liquid and warm water but depends how ingrained it is with whatever it is :naughty
